Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

Watching him with my own eyes. The Titans saw it too, that’s why they are shopping him. He goes down much easier and quicker than before. If you didn’t see it, you’re blind and delusional. You do realize that’s how it works with RB’s don’t you? Very few remain successful at 30, even the best of the best. Do you honestly think he’s going to be great in 2 seasons when he’s 31? It would be stupid not to get something for him now while you can.
30 is just a number, players defy that crap all the time or cost drives them out, not ability.

and yes. Henry has more than 2 seasons left as a league top RB. 1500 yards with the scrap yard OL and teams knowing he was gonna get the ball. Fix the OL, Henry continues to be legit league rushing champ.

If they are going all in on getting CJ stroud, which I think they are, then this is a dumb move. Nothing better for a young QB than a solid running game. What we can get for Henry is probably a late 2nd to early 3rd rounder. To me that is not enough to justify the drop in production vs return we would get. Let alone the blow to team moral.

Are you telling me, you have no faith in Haskins?

I know Henry is like the one player we have left that gives us national recognition and I love him for what he's done for the team - but as much as I would hate to see him leave, I would trade anyone for the right price.

If Vrabes and Ran feel like there's a QB that fits their team and system perfectly and they have strong convictions about it, I'm fine with trading Henry if that helps achieve that goal. Some teams may feel like they're just a strong running game away from being a contender and may overpay for him.

The "we won't have a running game to help a young QB" argument doesn't hold up. When Henry was hurt in 2021, we went out and signed Hilliard and Foreman and we hardly saw any loss of production from that position and we signed them off the street. This is also a great RB class this draft - even if we see a little fall off in the running game with a new back, it won't be as much as you think and would be made up for with the improvement in the passing game.

Finally, this would also signal that the team is looking to move towards a more current NFL style of offense, which I think is a good sign.

All the time? Start listing the 30 year old running backs that remained superstars. I’ll wait…I know it’s hard for you pure fans to look at anything beyond stats, but you have to actually watch how they play too and it’s easy to see if he was in decline and that will continue. By some of your all’s logic, you wouldn’t need to scout players or watch film, just pull out the stat sheets

Because of cost or ability?

and let’s pretend you see something different than everyone else regarding Henry. You’re saying that #2 in the league, 1500 yards, is declining?

Ill take that decline any day.

Running backs are not expensive compared to other positions. That’s why teams stopped drafting them in the first round. So you actually believe older running backs don’t get signed by any team simply because of what they cost? Like they would rather not play and make nothing. lol. The way some of you think….I swear

So this year if he declines to 1000, you would be happy not getting draft capital for him and drafting a rookie that could do the same, and instead paying him 16 million to do less? That’s why fans aren’t GM’s.

No. I think players are replaced easily with lesser quality. RB specifically because of the way they’re viewed, need to go for broke with monster paydays the first chance they get. That’s when they’re priced out of every team’s interest. So yea, by the time they’re 27-28-29, no team wants the contract regardless how it stacks up to other positions because often the step down (or in some cases a better RB is available) is acceptable for the team.

stat sheet or not RB are not running for 1500 yards. Mind you that’s the 3rd time in 4 seasons after coming back from injury and no OL and a passing game that makes no effort to keep the defenders back.

All that added together, you keep the clear best RB. There’s isn’t one better and the cost in general isnt that high at $16 mil, nevermind the $10 mil dead cap if another team doesn’t negotiate the contract.

If a team has the best of a position, you try to keep him. I thought this is what everyone was arguing about giving up AJ Brown for?

A) you started with IF. So until it happens, it’s theoretical and til now, no reason outside injury to think that will happen.

B) I don’t think you get any worthwhile draft capital out of him and whatever you do get, now needs used on a RB and hope it’s not Haskins.

and honestly for his contract, no one is moving for a 2 down back.....

his best spot is the Titans, ultimately it's why he was drafted in the 2nd round... The Ravens could be the only other run based team, but they have their own issues right now.... and 49ers have CMAC.

I don’t care about stats. I watched Derrick Henry run. He goes down instantly on contact where he used to run over multiple people. He is not even close to the same player and a player as big as he is, will decline quickly once it begins and it has begun.

At least now we’re at the “this is what I believe” stage so you can take your “GM expertise” and jam it.

I'm not going to judge him off a year behind Dennis Daley and Aaron Brewer.......

and he still hit 1500 rushing yards, which Zeke Elliott, CPatterson etc would die to consistently hit..... and 330 receiving yards on an avg of 12 yards a reception..... Stats don't tell the story, you're right.... the 429 players injured on the roster does though........ and for him to still be successful, says alot.

So it’s best to wait until after he becomes completely useless so you can get nothing in return? Genius thinking

Mighty big "if" there for 3rd round pick. I mean 2nd and 3rd rounders work out all the time. Remember Dodd, I mean Dudd? Henry has at least 2 good/great years left. I will bet you all my moolah that BDH smashes 1,000 yds. Tie a weight to your waste and jump in the deep end.
