Just got done watching the first two episodes of Ballers, seems like it's gonna be a good one. As long as the NFL doesn't pull rank for using the NFL team names.
First season was boring outside of one episode. Seems pretty par for the course.

Blew through both seasons of Silicon Valley already. Absolutely love it.
Also finished up Sonic Highways. That was a great series as well and I'm glad to hear there's a season 2 in the works.

Just started orange is the new black. Definitely not what I expected so far...its actually decent. I'm on like episode 5 or so
I think Vince isn't an awful choice for Frank. His real life situation of being a comedic actor trying to become a serious dramatic actor relates pretty well to his character who is trying to become a corrupt business man after being more of a lower level street crook.

It is tough watching Vince Vaughn do a serious role but he was better in the second episode.
I guess I don't mind Vince Vaughn as a dramatic actor as much as everyone else seems to. I haven't had a hard time buying his character at all. But he's clearly starting to come unraveled now so I think we're going to see a much more villainous tone from that character from here on out.

I'm probably gonna keep watching just because it's football related and I'm already tuned in to HBO for True Detective. I just don't think they have the right cast if a "football Entourage" was indeed what they were going for. It's just not funny enough to be a good comedy and it's not engaging enough to be a good drama.

Vince has played serious roles before. And almost any actor that can play comedic- can play dramatic. Dramatic/serious acting is easier.
Yeah I can't even really try to spin/defend it anymore. I was willing to give it a pass at first because a lot of shows struggle early on but it's becoming more and more clear with each passing week that it's just bad. Perhaps it will still find its way but it's pretty obvious that it's not the usual "HBO caliber" show.
It's a football show - with no football.
Get them into a season and maybe things will improve.
Still haven't watched Ballers, and I won't until the season ends. If it gets picked up for a new season, I'll check it out.
It might be more enjoyable if the episodes are watched a few at a time. I doubt I would've ever enjoyed Entourage or continued to watch it if I had to wait every week to see one of the episodes. It was much more enjoyable when I was watching 3-4 per night on HBO GO.

You seriously wanted CF's character to be dead after two episodes? He and VV are the best characters in the show. I'm glad they were just rubber bullets and CF lives to see another day.

My wife and I are watching Boardwalk Empire on Amazon. We are on Prime so first two seasons were free. We liked it so much we have paid for the last three seasons. In season 5 now (about 4 shows to go) so please no one spoil the end.
Very good show IMO...every season has been good. Takes a show or two in the new season for the new plots to unfold, but when they do the show is pretty intense.
Loved it but lost steam as it went on imo.
Neither as high or low as Sopranos went imo.
Penny Dreadful finished well I thought. Would recommend series to anyone that hasn't watched it.
Anybody watch Mad Men? I just recently finished up the series finale and was curious on people's thoughts. Didn't see a thread about it.
