Don't underestimate the lack of explanation in a series like this. So many times when they do spill the beans the show is no longer special.
Most recently Wayward Pines - went from being interesting and mysterious to just being another dumb friggin network turd.
I don't care whether the teen and his girlfriend have a first kiss once the other shoe has fallen. Next channel.

I'll be curios to hear your thoughts when you've finished. I did go from really liking the show to absolutely hating it. Loathed the ending of it. Became very pretentious. But politically maybe it won't bother you as much.
Okay, finished it up last night. I'd rate S1 and S2 10/10 but S3 was more like a 5 or 6/10. The tone and writing of the 3rd season almost made it feel like an entirely different show than the first 2 seasons. Overall, I loved the show but really hate that the final season was such a mess. Maybe they had to cram a bunch of stuff into 6 episodes due to the cancellation? IDK but the decline was rapid and substantial. And marathoning the entire series back-to-back made it all the more noticeable and impossible to ignore.

Like I said though, overall I loved it. I really was not expecting to like this show nearly as much as I did. That said I can totally see why people who lean more to the right would not be as crazy about it. Honestly though, I was expecting it to be even more blatantly left-leaning and preachy than it turned out to be. I think it was a very well done show regardless though... at least the first two seasons.

Was pretty similar to my feeling, except maybe 8/10, 7/10, 1/10 would be my numbers. I hated, loathed with a passion, the character in third season that they had to hide because he DID coerce information out of his source... (or whatever I can't remember the storyline entirely)... and the entire pretentiousness of his character when he returned to the newsroom and berated the peons.

Also Sorkin cannot write a realistic female character. I do not and have never met females that act like the characters in his shows, particularly Mac and Olivia Munn in newsroom. Actually Olivia Munn and whatever the dickhead boyfriend were my favorite characters of the show... Jim and that other chick sucked...

I hated the 3rd season so much, that I would not recommend the show.

Yeah Don was easily one of my favorite characters by the 2nd season, even though he was such a colossal douchebag the first few episodes. If I was going to complain about anything over the course of the entire run though it would probably be there was too much love triangle and "will they or won't they?" crap. I hate that kind of stuff and there were not one, not two, but three office romances on this show. And as much as I love Don and Sloan, their romance in particular just felt kinda pointless and tacked on. That's just me nitpicking though. Their relationship did at least give some nice comic relief at least. I actually thought the Will and Mac storyline was well done and actually felt natural, despite a few ridiculous moments along the way. The Jim and Maggie storyline was definitely the most annoying of the three. All that back and forth and sudden, nonsensical changes of heart just to create drama. That thing should've been resolved by the end of season 1.

Caught up on True Detective last night. I though this last episode was very good. It's just a shame it's beginning to get interesting this late in the season.

Tonight's episode of True Detective may be the best overall. It's right up there with Rust being part of the biker gang in season 1.

What? Am I missing something? There hasn't been a single episode of this season that can stand up with any episode of the first season to me, at least.

IMO it has sucked non-stop beginning to end. Maybe the week wait isn't helping with the pace of this season, but overall it's been awful in my eyes.

It's not the least bit compelling. I hope everyone dies next week in the finale... Ready for this thing to be over, so I can start a new show.

Sorry you feel that way, besides the slow start I've really enjoyed this season.

Last night's episode of TD was easily the best of the series. The last two have been excellent and I'm sure the finale will be as well. Still, it took waaaaaaayyyyyyyy too long to get interesting.

I'm glad I watched it but overall it's not even in the same ballpark as season 1 (for me).

Frank is losing it in TD....can't wait for season finale

Ballers is a circle jerk - if not for the Rock it would probably be cancelled

Strain - Not as good as last season, but always keeps you on the edge and may pick up

TD was a better episode - but far from great.
None of the reveals where surprises and while there was more action, it was still pretty generic.

This still applies:

Despite my problems with the season, I've really enjoyed that character and Vince Vaughn's performance. Everybody seemed to be worried about him not being able to keep up from an acting standpoint but he turned out to be the best character on the show IMO.

Haven't even bothered to watch the last 3 episodes. They're sitting on my DVR but I doubt I'll even end up watching them.

So, since I have started using netflix, me and my wife started watching this show called Friday Night Lights from the middle of last decade. Good show so far in the 1st season.

I thought the last few episodes of Ballers were an improvement. Not a GREAT show by any means, but interesting enough to keep me watching. There are a lot of great NFL cameos in it.
