Granted it's been awhile since I read, but I don't remember Tulip being anywhere close to this much of a badass.
Just got amazon prime, figured I would start the Wire. I know the same guy did Generation Kill and I fucking loved those.
You've never seen The Wire? Oh man, enjoy.
I will say when I first started it I wasn't crazy about it. But stick with it and by the middle of the 1st season you will be hooked.
Finished first two seasons. I see why this series is so well regarded. The characters are well developed and I appreciate that everybody seems to have realistic flaws or issues.
Man I hated ziggy in season 2. Always the sign of a good character/actor when they invoke a strong response like that to me. It's interesting recognizing actors from other shows that were on the wire as well.
She wasn't like that in the comics. There were times you could tell she had that capability, though... having sex while Jesse tried to hotwire a car, enjoying the .50 cal machine A LOT... but not to this extent.
Which I'm ok with. The show will, and is, deviate from the comic's story, but seem to maintain the basics and fun.
I'm ok with this Tulip... each character will be slightly different, to some degree - Root, Arseface, the angels - so better this Tulip and not a horrible one. In my opinion.

I'm really loving it. I do, however, kinda feel like it needs to pick up the pace a bit.
Yeah I suppose they could get to the point a little quicker. Same flaws that a few other adapted-from-graphic-novels have though ie: every moment has to be super badass or super dramatic. Subtlety is out the window. There is a tinge of David Lynch here and it would be nice if they pursued that a bit more..
For me it's not so much a lack of action as it is the show just seems to kinda be meandering around, 3 episode into a 10-episode run. Again though, minor minor critique. I'm really digging it overall.
Out of curiosity have you read the comics?
Aside from a general idea... this is almost an original story based on the comic.
Enjoying it, though.
Haven't read the comics.. And I wouldn't say there's a lack of action, just a lack of cohesive action maybe. It's been a bit of a music video to this point..
Yeah I was just curious how much sense it's making to someone who isn't familiar with the comic.
I know where the story goes... I have no idea where this story goes. That's not a bad thing.
I think I get the gist of things - unless there is some wild turn of events..
Completely shocked they, sort of, introduced a particular character. Thiught they'd save him for a bit later...
