I just read this on the jaguars message board. Some dude posted it saying he heard it on the radio. They said not only will Billy Volek lose his starting job to Kerry Collins, he will be cut. I am not to sure about it, so take it for what it's worth. But I think it would be stupid to cut him.

This is what was said.

Dan Patrick just reported that according to sources close to Volek, he will not only lose his starting job to Kerry Collins, he will be cut from the team.

I know it's probably nothing but I will be pissed if it happens.:hang: I want Collins to start but, Volek might has some trade value, and it would be stupid to let him go for nothing.

Off topic: Hoffa, Paulie from the sopranos lives a couple of blocks away from me. I live in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NewYork. I always see him going to the cleaners, or picking up stuff from the bakery. Pretty sweet dude. I also see Vito, thank god they killed him, and he is rude as hell.

the Titans discussed potential swaps with several teams, including the Chargers and Colts.
Unsatisfied with what they'd get in return, however, the Titans elected to keep Volek instead of releasing him on Saturday.
Another factor the Titans must consider: Volek is a vested veteran, so if he's on the roster at the end of the week his salary of $1 million for 2006 would become guaranteed.

again ..... cutting a player vs. getting ANYTHING for him seems defeatus

if Reese ultimatley is unable to get anything for him, logic would have it that Billy would remain with the team and we'd eat his $1m salary ... why not... we've got it to spend somewhere

shipping Billy to SD for a (insert object here) sounds better than letting him defect to the Colts ..... or escaping to freedom for nothing at all

what a tangled web they weave

I'm beginning to think they may keep Volek through week one and see what happens... both with Collins and the rest of the League...

Take today and Rothelisberger for a perfect example ... keeping him until the trade deadline at worst only raises his value to other teams.

If Billy is on the roster next week his salary is guaranteed
i can't see trading him once we paid him a million bucks .... oh wait ....

Which is exactly what they're going to do.

By then, they'll know how Collins and Young have adapted in Tennessee. How Big Ben's injury is in Pittsburgh. And, just how badly other teams (SD, Cleveland, etc...) need a QB.

There is no need to cut him.

Hold onto him and attempt to drive his value up as much as you can.

Even if that means playing him. :winker:
