SUMMARY: Veteran Kerry Collins said yesterday afternoon that his goal is to become the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Titans. "The goal is to play," Collins said. "I love playing. I am used to playing. I've started a lot of games in this league. My focus right now is first learning the offense, and helping this team any way I can. … I think the competition is going to be good. Ultimately, it is going to make us a better team." Collins, heading into his 12th season, will make a base salary of $1.3 million with a $750,000 roster bonus on a one-year contract. Coach Jeff Fisher said he hopes Collins will see action in Friday's preseason finale at Green Bay and that rookie Vince Young probably will remain the No. 2 QB.

I would rather see the Titans have the number one pick in the next draft than see a win with Kerry Collins as QB.

I don't see where so much hate for one player could make someone hope their team loses every week comes from.
If I can learn to root against Steve McNair I can certainly learn to root for Kerry Collins. Rooting for the team and not the players goes both ways.

If Collins leads the Titans to win four of the first six games, fans here will call him the second-coming of Johnny Freakin' Unitis and we'll be wanting him to sign him to a five-year deal.
I don't like his style of play, but hey, if he says he wants to be the No1 for the Titans, that's commitment for your team.
