I'm just thinking of who I'd cut, and who I'd keep.

QB - Volek, Young, Mauck (3)
RB - Brown, White, Henry (3)
FB - Ahmard Hall (1)
TE - Kinney, Troupe, Scaife, Guenther (4)
WR - Bennett, Givens, Wade, Roby, Williams, Small (6) (PUP Jones, PS Orr and Mattos/ Thomas)
OL - Roos, Olson, Mawae, Piller, Bell, Stewart, Amano, Loper (8)

Offense (25)

DE - KVB, LaBoy, Schoebel plus one more (Odom PUP) (4)
DT - Haynesworth, Starks, Clauss, Mahelona (Long PUP) (4)
LB - Bulluck, Sirmon, Thornton, Tulloch, Nande, Reynolds, Randall (7)
CB - Jones, Hill, Woolfolk, Finnegan, Gardner (Waddell PUP) (5)
S - Hope, Thompson, Fuller, Lowry, Nickey (5)

Defense (25)

Special Teams (3)

P - Hentrich
K - Bironas
LS - Amato

I would look for an addition to the Offensive line, Defensive line, safety and linebacker position. Ergo, if I could replace Sirmon or Reynolds, Nickey, or upgrade at guard, either tackle or end, I'd do it.

I think Keon Raymond could replace Gardner by end of preseason.
Notice we can't afford to really let go one of our top 3 RBs, and we can't afford any dropoff, so it's bye bye Payton and Ganther.

Notice how I hang on unnaturally to Gregg Guenther, but I think if Kinney stays hurt, he's going to get activated, and Scaife or Troupe could get injured at any time if you think about it, so I err on the side of caution and say keep him.

Bye Fleming. Another good showing and Hall is showing you the door.

If I found two decent DEs, I'd probably cut Schoebel.

Upon further review, if I see Olson and Piller look like that again, I'm going to vote the starting line to be Roos Amano Mawae Bell Stewart. Let's get it over with.

Don't know if there's any potential o-line pickups, but the more I look at it, the more I want to see a couple of our backups starting ahead of Pillar and Olsen.

Anyone called Marquise Hill yet? That dude the Pack let go. Well it couldn't hurt I guess.

I hope the LT replacement is on the roster with a young guy, really the same for Sirmon if he keeps playing bad. But maybe we can turn someone else's trash into our treasure :baghead:

Me too.

I think they find room for JP on the roster, somehow.

funny, i thought you'd say Ganther (practice squad maybe ?)
I'd like to see JP remain.... i thought he ran hard last week

I think Hall has already shown Fleming the door. Especially with the catch out of the backfield.

what's ironic is that Fleming is "supposed" to be a above average pass-catcher
I think Hall played well v DEN
but I hesitate to give up on Fleming just yet

the dude has skills and everywhere he's been it's been suppressed

Well, if there were to be a 4th, it'd be JP, but I just don't want to have a drop off. I'd almost rather run the big 3 until they can't see straight. Special teams will be what secures Payton, but I still think we're going to be down 2 TEs all year. I also think Hall will get carries, which is why I left Payton off the final roster.

I agree with that. Another reason I wouldn't keep Payton. I might keep 2 FBs. Not many of those dudes can go deep, and Fleming sure can. And why don't you let the 2nd leading rusher in high school football get some real carries every now and again? Not sure I ever understood that.

Orr is too good for the practice squad, I'd have him active instead of small. Schobel is a bust, Dolphins picked up D Wilkinson for $3 mill over 3 yrs & he looked good on saturday. Time to can some of our bubble players & try some old vets

Thank you childress. The only thing I saw that made me shake my head was keeping OJ Small. We're not getting rid of orr, he's a special teams player and a draft pick. Small can still be on the practice squad. I think we'd keep Orr even if we can't PUP Jones.

Nice post- I suspect Roydell Williams might be traded for a young DE prospect...you still have 6 pretty good receivers...Givens, Bennett, Wade, Jones, Roby, Orr...I also see us picking up another O line vet to replace Pillar, and start Bell at LG and Stewart at RT.. not sure what to say about Olsen.

I don't know that we'll even PUP Jones. Isn't he supposed to be almost healthy now? I know we don't want to rush him, but still...Orr is a keeper, Small maybe not.

I also think it's time to write a check for some solid vet DL's. Not stars, mind you, but somebody (like Daddy Wilkinson would've been) who can come in a contribute. We've got some cap space, so why not?

Who gives us anything for Williams? He's unproven as is Roby. I don't see any trade value there. Reese MUST find some quality DL/DE depth. Schobel is gone unless Odom goes to the PUP. Reese will be all over the waiver wire.

The decision to keep Piller/Olson at guard was made long ago. I don't think they will shake this up now.
