It is a really good movie that I have to say I would give an award to just for the film making.
Well it did win the Oscar for best director.

At first I wasn't sure if my wife would make it through the first 30 gruesome minutes, but after the initial arrows through eye balls and a bear mauling she made it lol. If that is truly what it was like for Hugh Glass, then God bless him lol.
Yeah, I looked over and saw my wife shielding her eyes during the bear scene lol.

Finally got around to seeing The Revenant. Absolutely loved it (and yeah, that bear scene was amazing). But am I the only one who had a hell of a time understanding some of the dialogue, particularly early on? My wife and I were both like WTF for about the first 30 minutes. It was probably just the accents combined with my sound setup that is way too loud on action and effects. But I haven't had that hard of a time understanding dialogue in an English speaking movie in a long, long time.

I had to turn on CC.

I know this one got shit on critically, but I kind of liked it. Pixels. Let me make one thing clear, it was not funny at all, but as an action movie it wasn't so bad.

Finally watched Kingsman...I have no idea what to expect but it wasn't that.

Still it took enough piss out of itself to be highly enjoyable.

Also the female Oscar Pistorius was hot.

I just watched the Hateful 8. If you like Tarantino, 8/10, as a movie I thought it was entertaining but not on a level as say Pulp Fiction. 7/10

It talks its way out of being a great movie.
If Quentin would just put together an ending - even if he has to steal it from Leone.

The ending of this movie has been hacked to death over and over in films. He built up to the switch quite well, and then whump....

Rewatching The Revenant last night. put on subtitles for the entire movie this time and boy there was a lot of stuff I missed by having it off for 30 mins or so the first time.
The bear scene is indeed quite intense - but the sequence just before that where the group flees the indians into the boat is some doggone unbelieveable filmmaking. The logistics of shooting these partial one shots - on such an epic scale.. Just wow..

Krampus. Totally not what I was expecting but I still really enjoyed it.

I was actually let down by this after the people that give me my movie opinions highly recommended it.

I did like the practical effects and there was some fun to it... but it just didn't hit the mark for me.

Redlettermedia let you down?

Yeah I can see why it wouldn't work for everyone. I did have a few minor issues with it but overall it was a lot of a fun.

For some reason, nothing about it could beat the terror of when Krampus is first seen. That house-jumping scene was creepy as hell; nothing that followed topped that for me.

Since they are hack fraud director/producers, their big praise was heaped on the snow/winter effects, the creature effects, and the sound effects. Those were the things I enjoyed the most in the movie as well.

(because they told me to think that way)
