..this will all get straightened out by next year's offseason. After all is was only the Jets:sad2: Maybe some of you see the light now, preseason matters, and again, we were unprepared. I hold the coaching staff accountable.

fine me one quote where anyone thinks pre-season matters?

There are numerous players who want it shortened.

The outcome of the games don't matter, but how you play, especially your 1st stringers, sure does.

you mean how the 0 - 5 pre-season Colts last year, with one decent showing from the 1st stringers really affected their 14 - 2 season.

Come on, Man. You have better football smarts. There are quotes everywhere, anytime the subject comes up. Of course there are numerous players that think it should be shortened. And those are usually the starters or backups with roster spots locked up.

I can give you over 700 people that wanted more time on the field in pre-season to earn a roster spot. Coaches understand the concept as well. For the most part you ain't gonna find too many of them chirping about shortenning or eliminating the pre-season.

And however vanilla, the "live action" is still good for vets to shake off the rust, and get smacked a couple of times too. It looks to me that Collins could have used a little more of it.

1 decent showing is still infinetly better than no decent showing

You mean the whole 8 - 8, playoff pushing comments after the opening pre-season game?

which are now more rarer then a postive comment from RollTide.

We didn't play well in the first preseason game, but it looked like we were moving in the right direction, then we collapsed and played horribly in the rest of the preseason games. Even the one we won against GB we played bad.

Bottom line is that you set a tone for the season, everytime you step out on the field. We didn't and haven't set the right tone for how we want our team to play, with the lackluster play of our teams in meaningless games. Pre-season are meaningless in the sense of record, but you are kidding yourself if you really believe they don't matter. They are tune-ups for the teams, offense, defense and special teams. We showed that we could use more practice and better preparation, which we knew watching the preseason games, the kinks were supposed to be worked out by this point. We are not utilizing the time spent on the field, practice or game wisely or efficiently, and we are a poorly coached team. That is why none of our players have developed over the past 5 years, and we continue to go backwards.

well, it would be good to have a starting quarterback getting most of the reps in camp and in the preseason.

Not ten days before your first game on the sked ...

So you're saying that the pre-season is an indicator for how good a team is eh? The Colts were 0-4 I believe in the preseason last year. How'd they turn out? The preseason is good for evaluating talent and looking at keeping fringe players. THAT'S IT. Our problems are far more deep-rooted than Pre-season play.

I would say that everybody that made their predictions about the Titans record for '06 , was counting yesterday's game as a Win.
The fact we lost could be considered a very good indicator.

I am truly dissapointed in that loss. If we would have won that and lost the next 4, I wouldnt have been as disapointed as that loss.

We are not the Colts. The Colts are a very disciplined group, what we continue to show is inconsistency and bad fundamentals. We make the same mistakes over and over and over and over. We don't correct mistakes, we just make excuses. The preseason is for these flaws to be ironed out, and a winning mentality to be born. If you continue to allow your team to lose in the preseason, then it starts to stick in the mindset of the players and they get used to it.........I don't ever want a football player used to losing, he then loses his edge. I agree with evaluating talent, but to a point, you have minicamps and all offseason to get a feel for the cieling of a player, you don't go into games totally unprepared and vanilla to the extent that you're guys are getting embarrased because you didn't even attempt to protect them and give them the best opportunity to make plays, that is just a slap in the face.

Kamikaz, I know what you're saying, but you know what I'm saying too, it's about being a man, and wanting to win battles. Our staff has shown us that it doesn't matter about winning battles in the offseason, therefore we go into the regular season flat and questioning ourselves as players. Did you want that when you played?
