SUMMARY: With more offenses making shorter drops in the passing game, sack numbers in the NFL have dropped from over the last few years. The result is that the Titans defensive line is focusing on deflecting the pass anytime they can't get to the QB. "More than anything, I am interested in hitting the quarterback, and that's what everybody talks about," Washburn said. "But if you can't get there, get your hands up and knock the ball down. A deflection can lead to a big play." In the middle of the line, keeping an eye on the QB's eyes is key. So players regularly fight with their hands until the ball is released, then they get their hands up.
