To All....

I was thinking, in years past, during the glory years, we always had major depth at the defensive tackle position. We could rotate guys in an out without any major drop off in production...

In looking at our D-Tackle rotation now, I would say we are thin at this position. We have a few guys in Haynesworth,Clauss and Randy Starks that can dominate when healthy, but neither of these guys can stay healthy for a full season, let alone a full game. IMO, this causes the defense to rely on the linebacker position too much. There is no way for the linebackers to protect themselves from a pulling gurard or whatever and this is the main reason our defense suffers, particularly in the run game...:sad2:

Just look at all of the running backs that had career days on the Titans last year:sad2:

Do you guys think it would be prudent for Reese and Co. to get some much needed help at the D-Tackle position, OR draft a stud guy in the latter rounds or even in round two?

I know a lot of guys are big on Mario Williams, or drafting another D-end, but IMO, I think we are set at that position for years to come. Vanden-Bosh is gonna rip some heads off this year and we can always rotate on the other side. But the main issue here, as always in a 4-3 scheme, is to stuff the run up the middle and collapse the pocket in passing situations...

More than anything else, this is the reason our defense has suffered so much...Thoughts???????

I would think that the Titans could draft a DL in the mid-late rounds of the draft

I don't see us using a 1st or 2nd round pick on a DT unless a real value fell.
If a DT is BPA available anywhere else in the draft I say sure, take one.
Still, the guys we have now are not bad, we need a better MLB.

Don't count out taking a DT at some point but unless they felt they could upgrade Clauss, I don't know if it'll be anything more than a late-round value.

I think if we do go DT, it will be in the 5th round if we're a little interested but no earlier than that:winker:

When Haynesworth is healthy, our defensive line is great, people respect the big man and so double team him, leaving KVB, to throw a body out of the way and then destroy the QB, (although this season, destroying a QB will be limited:sad2: )

Man, so many options, for me if we get Young and D'Quell, I don't care who we draft in the later rounds, well......................maybe a bit:))

D-Takckles

OOooopppssss...

I forgot about Rien Long...And yes he does contribute and can create havoc...but still that is only 4 guys in the rotation....

And....what does BPA mean?

Oh

BPA....best player available

Oh boy, that is a DUH on my part!!!!! I guess I need a more practice with this stuff...

My Bad:ha:

How did Rien Long get left out of this discussion?

Seriously guys, this Wazzu bias is getting old :winker:
When I saw the 3 guys, I knew there was a 4th guy but I couldnt remember his name. I should though, his autograph is on my wall in my room

For some reason, Jesse Mahelona has disappeared in all of this pre-draft hooblah. I think we should consider him in the 5th, and definitely take him if he's there in the 6th. The guy is a great ball player coming off a sub-par year.

Don't forget that this is the last year in Haynesworth's contract, too.

Great point! He is a great football player that was prejected as a first day guy but really has fallen out of the spot light. Im not sure we wouldnt draft him if he is available in the fourth

Haynesworth is signed through 2007, though he will have a big base salary...

ooops. my bad.

I don't think we'll take anything other than O-Line in the 4th, unless we get another day 1 pick.
