Mainly for the medicals/physicals and interviews. Teams have watched enough film already get a good idea of what the player can do on the field.

During interviews with Chicago, the Bears set up a putting green and dart board; to help loosen up the prospect and see their competitiveness.

I LOVE the draft, but the combine is boring. Use the tape and don't get fooled by workout warriors.

No. This statement is biased opinion.

I watch Big Ten football the most every year... and even I didn't know Chig was that fast.

The combine helps put a number on some of the tape, and if it doesn't match the tape, then it puts underlying questions on the tape. And that's the job of scouts to sort through.

It has some value. Measurements and the explosion tests help. Top end speed for corners. If the production doesn't match the athleticism scores you have to wonder why. Interviews can be good but some of these teams just ask bullshit. I'm guessing a huge part is the medical evaluation too.
