And so, Favre is back, for at least one more year and maybe another one after that (more on that later).

But even as he went through the team's first full-squad, on-field workouts under new coach Mike McCarthy - with a sore shoulder and two aching ankles - he admitted he's not entirely convinced he made the right call. Especially after suffering through last year's 4-12 debacle, the first losing season of his NFL career.

"I'm not going to lie. I wonder if it's the right decision," said Favre, who informed Packers general manager Ted Thompson on April 25 of his plans to play. "I really believe that if I decided to retire, there would be times throughout the season (when) I would say, 'You know, I should have went back. I can still do that.' But regardless of what decision I made, I think there (would have been) regrets at times.

"I think Aaron Rodgers is having an excellent minicamp," McCarthy said late Saturday. "Statistically, big-play opportunities, controlling the huddle, managing the offense."

Don't make this about respect. I think, like almost everyone that Favre is tops... but I can't help but compare this to McNair in my mind... and more than half of everyone says we should cut him (McNair) if it comes down to it. All Steve did was get beat various shades of black and blue in Houston, make a few comments and people here are using that as some air tight case to cut #9 if it came to it.

Is that really Favre's first losing season?

Doesnt sound right.

If I remember right, he came out the shoot pretty weak. He has been with the Pack since his second year in the NFL. He told the Packer faithful to give him 4 years (I should research but am too lazy) and the rest is legend.

Brett Favre is my most favorite player of all time, and I am thankful he is staying another year so I can go see him play at Lambeau. Texans fan first, GO PACK GO, second. Yes..........I do own a cheesehead. :ha:

That is stupid. Lombardi was one of the greatest minds in the history of football. Lombardi stands for all that is right with the NFL.

Favre's situation is quite similar to McNair's
explantion : from an organization standpoint, they really couldn't do any worse without them

and given the fact that Favre lost his best receiver doesn't help

I'm so glad you mentioned that. Favre and his big yap did not help that either. I wouldn't say he "lost" his best receiver... I'd say he ran him off.

Also Puck, your observation that the Favre situation is similar to the McNair situation is money... that's why I decided to make this thread. I'm surprised it took this long for a member to point to that.

The main difference is McNair has more gas in the tank and Favre is staying put... (aside from retirement is not an option for #9)

Oh yeah... Rodgers is ready. Young is green...

McNair and Farve both abuse their tenure...

(I could expand on that here... right now... I don't think I have too. I think most people know what I mean by that.)

Farve should be retiring but I guess he wants to go out in style

I hope that is a burn on football players. It's not my real intent to own you on a war over independence and taxation. Gunny has taught me that it is good to sack poms. Carpy is a mad pom sacker. Seems harmeless enough. Besides... what's the ratio of Americans to Aussies anyways... I went out of my way to buy beer from New Zealand that sucked. I drink my tea in a glass with ice and suger... and lemon too! :geek: Anyhow LazyMan... I hope the ouch is for my disdain for Farve and McNair and the situations they are in with their respective teams. It makes me sad in a way because they are southern brothers cut from the same blue oxford cloth. Tough guys... they both have turned into suffocating vortexes in their own ways... some similar to one another and some unique. They both are staring their replacements square in the face and neither is going to yeild. It's admirable in a way yet at the same time foolish. It's very interesting because it can be taken and twisted so many ways... however one may choose to represent. What will McNair learn from Farve that he did not learn from Eddie? :suspect:
