Is their a limit to the length of the contract that you can give a player? Given the way that guaranteed money is spread out over the length of a contract could you give a player a 50mil guaranteed on a 50 yr contract and thus the cap hit would just be 1mil a yr for 50 yrs. Sure 50 yrs from now all the fans would be saying who the hell is this guy we are still paying. I think Mahomes 10yr deal is the longest I've heard of.

I don't know if there's a limit in the NFL but a 15 (Rick DiPietro) and 17 year (Ilya Kovalchuk) contract were signed in the NHL.
