The comparisons between Titans QB Steve McNair and Longhorn QB Vince Young come naturally. For many, McNair was considered a risk when drafted by Titans GM Floyd Reese. The same holds true now of Vince Young who many feel may not be able to make the transition to the pro game. Reese says that it is hard to compare the two because of the programs they come from but sees the simularities "from their size to the way they move around and their ability to find somebody open," said Reese. "What that means (in the NFL), I think (opinions) will be all over the board."

Anytime Reese is quoted from now until the draft we can expect that Reese is saying what he wants people to hear and not neccesarily what Reese thinks. Maybe Reese is hoping a team gives Reese the farm to get our #3 pick.

Does anyone else think that it is possible that Reese isnt as interested in VY as most think he is? It would seem that if he really wants VY he would be laying some groundwork for some smoke covering their interests... Like harping on their weaknesses or compairing them less favorably to another likely candidate like Leinart, Cutler, or Bush....

I think if you really wanted to tear down a player, so you could get 'em, there would be better ways to get some rumors started than Reese. You could start with "the Viking are interested".

He just has the poker face on. He prob. feels that the less he talks about individual players that makes it that much harder on the other teams to get a feel for the way he wants to draft.
When you are picking #3 in the draft, do you have to blow smoke. Perhaps Reese is telling those interested in VY that he will take him, unless someone makes him an offer he cannot refuse.

There's always a reason to blow smoke. The teams below us have to think that we might take their player off the board or they won't see any reason to trade with us.

This is vintage Reese. Say you're looking hard at the young WR and note how well he would fit your system. Show the media where the new WRs locker will be, including his name plate. Then take Pacman on the opposite side of the ball. Vintage Reese.
I don't understand all the smoke though. I could see blowing smoke last year, but we're talking about pick #3. The only people we have to fool are Houston and New Orleans. Unless we plan to trade the pick.

When reese says that steve carried some risk in 1995 and "the same holds true now of Vince Young who many feel may not be able to make the transition to the pro game" that is not hyperbole. Looks like an honest assessment to me. And later he mentions what is different about the two players, the fact both come from complete different programs.
Young reminds reese of mcnair? Well duh, both are black, both are great athletes, both are big. Both can run like a back. That takes no imagination and now just like then we are picking third.
There is nothing in reese's comments to make you think he absolutely loves young or not. You can asertain that reese sees young as similar athletically to mcnair but one of the biggest concerns for mcnair was that he came from a tiny school. Not a concern for young.

It was a spectacle and nobody wanted to miss something special happening. Imagine what it will be like when vince young plays.
He's going to bring a lot of new excitement to this town! In addition to a few championships!
