Big 12 dies if that happens BUT power 5 becomes Power 4 so we know who will make the playoff EVERY year (Norte Dame exception) until they finally expand so every team has at least a chance at the championship.

Only way to make a playoff system truly work - well, work better - is to cut down the number of conferences.

Since the actual playoff started, I’ve been arguing for at least 8 teams OR two of NCAA is only going to consider the “power 5” (and ND) then have a second playoff available for the rest of college football.
f the 134-ish Div I teams, almost 100 have a 0% chance of a championship or less and that’s regardless of going undefeated or not.
People don’t give a crap about the appropriately named “who gives a crap bowl” between a 8-5 team and a 7-6 team. If the winner moves on in a bracket towards a NC, people will care.
