Among the many games Gowdy
called were the first Super Bowl
and the infamous "Heidi" game.
On Nov. 17, 1968, Gowdy broadcast the Oakland Raiders' 43-32 win over the New York Jets in which the Raiders won with two touchdowns in the last minute. Viewers didn't see those touchdowns because NBC cut away from the final minute to fulfill a contractual obligation to show "Heidi," the classic children's story.

Browsing this article made me feel smart that I already knew exactly what the "Heidi" game was and the teams involved at the the ripe old age of 28. It's amazing what you can absorb from a lifetime of cable tv.
