Conklin is gone, guys. He was gone the moment we didn't extend his rookie deal. Accept it.
That's some hindsight bias, and we have to deal with the situation as-is, not make mistakes bc of what should have been.
He was a first round pick. Those guys get enough rope to hang themselves. The only way teams don't use the fifth-year option on a guy is if he is totally out of the team's future plans.

Except he had a major bounce back year. JR got too clever after his injury and didn’t pick up the 5th year option. Given how most people recover at 2 years, was short sighted. O Line is not JR’s strong suit.

The whole right side of the offensive line needs to be rebuilt. Ben Jones will get a pass because he's the best of the C, RG, RT combo and you can't replace everyone in a single year. RG and RT need to be replaced.

Yes he did. By all metrics he was a very good RT last year.
Good for him. He can go back to being a very average one on another team. He'll be paid handsomely for it too. Maybe someone will be dumb enough to play him at LT.
Well he as an elite RT before the injury. Then had 1 bad year after the injury. Then rebounded back to being one of the better RTs in the league ( even if he wasn't elite). And he's only 25. He's gonna make some team extremely happy over the next 4+ years and I hope it's us.
He was never an elite RT.
And no team needs an elite RT.
I'm a firm believer in not needing the best five offensive linemen. You need the right five offensive linemen. Five guys who work together as one unit. What you can't do is roll with a guy like Nate Davis.
