First of all, the deal is just for two years, not four. This year and next. That article is from 2020 and is talking about his rookie deal.
Secondly, my guess is next year is voidable and they just made most of the money a signing bonus spread over two years because we ain’t got much cap space this year. Like we did with Jayon Brown before.
Thirdly, we’d already brought him up from the practice squad 3 times so we couldn’t do it again. This was the only way to add him to the roster and we need some DL depth with Big Jeff, Dupree and Strong banged up.
