Brother Billy is either auditioning for other NFL Teams (trade bait) or showing what he can do as a Titan starter. Which is it?
Based on his performance of late... I would say not much of either.

Probably both/either but the way he's been playing it might turn into watching NFL on DirectTV.
if they are truley committed into bringing Steve back, then this is trade bait.
We probably can't trade him. We either keep him and give him a $4.5M in bonuses or we cut him. We'll cut him, IMHO.
Here's a quote from a recent Tennessean article:
Assuming the option bonus comes due on March 1 (which is likely), we wouldn't be able to trade him before then. If we don't sign him to the bonus then he'll be a free agent (presumably). If we do, then he'll have a no-trade clause.Volek is due $4.5 million worth of bonuses if the Titans want to keep him. If they pay the bonuses, he's got a no-trade clause that would give him control of any move.
If they worked a deal to a team where he felt like he could start, I think Volek would approve it. Actually, I think there's a fair chance they'll just keep him unless they plan on drafting a quarterback early in the draft.
Volek hasn't set the world on fire this season, but there are some really sketchy quarterbacks starting in this league right now. I think you could make a case that he's better than some of them.

Based on what he's done this year, I don't see any reason to pay him $9M over the next 3 years to keep him...
how many people consider that Billy might be the Titans starter next year and that Steve is gearing up for the big "R"
BIlly to stay on for starting / grooming purposes ........
just how many of you think that's possible ?

Hopefully the big R stands for released so steve can play with a team that has recievers actually born with functional hands and billy stays to make it or break it competing with a "future" qb - whoever that might be...

Floyd couldn't do the trade - both teams were too cap-strapped to make it happen, remember?

Anything is possible. It's just a question of how stupid it is.
Really, we know nothing, so anything could happen.
That would be what I would say, however, between the two choices given, defintiely trade baitLaserjock said:Based on his performance of late... I would say not much of either.
McNair=
Volek=
The durable, 6'4", 230-pound Cutler offers the dual threat of an excellent throwing arm and the ability to carry the football.
might be able to pick up an extra third rounder too...
plus he's the perfect anti-peyton. That's a plus.

Nice post SEC! We seem to think along the same lines quite often.

Rumor was a 1st round and some trash was offered but Floyd wanted more trash. The Jets lost interest in the following 2 weeks because they lost those games and were figuring to get one in the draft.
Volek's value will never be that high again.
