I Think we are now back to best avaible in 2nd looks like qb for sure in 1st,
unless we dont sign hope maybe safety ,what does every1 think.

If we sign Hope then I think Eric Winston or Jon Scott OTs. Also we could go MLB and cut Sirmon now. The pick would either be Abdul Hodge or D'qwell Jackson.

If we don't sign Hope then, we would draft which ever one of these three safeties would fall to us, Ko Simpson, Darnell Bing, or Jayson Allyn.

We can't lose so remember that

Jackson or Hodge for MLB, though I can see waiting and taking Kevin Simon or someone in the 4th.

Max Jean Gilles or other OT.

I like the idea of Jason Allen a little bit, depending on his Pro Day. DB depth who can play STs and will emerge as we slowly let the chaff go in the next year or two.

I still like Hawk for our MLB. With Hawk inbetween Thornton and Bullock we will have the best front 7 in the league for years to come. I doubt there would be a team in the NFL that could run on us, and when our young DB's come around we'll hold teams scoreless more times than not.

Hawk isn't a MLB and the Titans usually play the nickel too much to make drafting a MLB at #3 a priority. By signing Thornton, the Titans won't take Hawk even if they trade out.

The most glaring immediate need right now is safety.

Recently the MLB has shown that you don't have to be a first round to succeed, nor do you need ALL the measures. Lofa Tafupu and that NYJ MLB (forget the name, from The U).

Safety | Junior | Ohio St. Donte Whitner
Height: 5-10 1/8 | Weight: 204 | 40-Time: 4.40

Official Bio

Strengths:
Has excellent speed and quickness...Is very athletic and explosive...Has great range and covers a lot of ground...Extremely physical and is a great tackler...A playmaker who is always around the ball and has a knack for making the big play...Is very instinctive...Has excellent hands to make the interception...Great pass rusher on the blitz...Has top intangibles and is a leader on the field.

Weaknesses:
A bit of a S / CB 'tweener who might not have a true pro position...Lacks elite size at safety...Has played a lot but only started for one season...Has the physical abilities of a cornerback but is not quite as good in coverage as his measurables might indicate...Dealt with some minor injuries and durability might be a concern.

Notes:
Was considered one of the top defensive backs in the country when he was coming out of high school...Has the physical tools...Interesting prospect who could realistically project to free safety, strong safety or cornerback at the next level.

If we had not signed Thornton Hawk would be an option but not now as Jeff said. We don't need to use a 1st or 2nd round pick on a player that will be basically a 2 down only LB at best.

IMO Huff is not an option because we need to stay near the top of the draft and get a QB. Jason Allen is a good possibility if he is there in the 2nd as is Whitner or Simpson. What is nice about Allen is he can play CB and might be an upgrade there if Hill doesn't show improvement.
