I think Billy wants to throw the ball long. two reasons why it isn't working

#2 The OL is not giving him time
#1 Chow doesn't want to

We don't know what's been said to him off the record, but I don't know why he's so pissed.

BV is a nice guy, but I don't think he has the ego you need to be a starting QB in the NFL. He dosen't have that cocky swagger, the "this is my team" attitude. I heard him say on Titans All-Access that he is just a cog in the machine. That view won't make it. He has to exude leadership, and not be afraid of competition.

I believe there are 3 reasons KC is here.

1. Chow-ball isn't working for BV and BV isn't working for Chow-Ball. I don't know if it is talent or desire, but no way has BV done as well under Chow as he did under "Dinger". I believe Fisher recognizes this also. How many TD drives has BV put together under Chow?
2. I don't believe the players respect BV as much as they do VY. IMO, they appear to play harder for Vince. I believe Fisher thinks they will respect KC more.
3. With KC here, we can shop BV and maybe get OL or DL help. With a better line, I guarantee you there won't be any noticeable difference between BV and KC. This gives BV a chance at landing a starting job without an immediate successor in the wings.

I like BV, but not really because of his play. He has always frustrated me because he just can't seem to get it in the end zone. I like BV just because he told Rosenturd to 'SHUT UP' to the press last year about the trade issue and he had a good run of "deep balls" to Bennett 2 years ago under Dinger. He really hasn't done much lately. I wish we had traded him to the Jets when Pennington went down last year. We would have probably had another 2nd round pick this year.

The only reason I didn't like KC is because I felt like we were settling for left-overs no other team wanted. Now, I believe his experience is exactly what we need to execute Chow-ball. I know he can't score less TD's than BV has so I'm all behind giving him a try. And if it brings out the best in BV- that's great too.

Anyway, for some strange reason, I am particularly optimistic about KC being here.

The OL will get all 3 QB's killed
Maybe 2, but I think an unleashed VY can fend for himself.

I have hope that a re-shuffled O-line will fare better in the reqular season.

Keep hope alive...

well lets see, why did the raiders keep KC for a year and bring in moss, FOR THE LONG BALL, so tell me, why is KC is Tennessee???????? :grrr: :irked:

oh yeah and i forgot, billy should be pissed, he came in and did better than mcnair 2 yrs ago with bennett, the bring mcnair back, get owned, and now KC, so, when does Volek get to show hes got talent again???

I first noticed it when they drafted Adam Jones. At the time of Moss/Dyson they would never have drafted someone like Adam Jones. (Please, I don't want to start a debate about that decision, just that it showed a change of team direction from the past).

Winning cures a lot of ills, and if they can get back to being a contender again I think a lot of these distractions will go away. But it's not so easy to climb back up the mountain once you fallen.
As fans we have to believe they can.

Prediction: In this new direction the team is headed, in an effort to jumpstart the winning ways, usher in the Vince Young era, and not repeat the Dyson/Moss history, the Titans use a large chunk of free agent money to sign the recently-departed-from-Dallas T.O.

Mark it. (But don't hit me.) :hmm:

Billy needs to ball or get out. If he can't do what they want him to do than he clearly isn't the man for the job. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt for now. Let me put it this way... a month ago I thought I would be signing his praises by now. People... the man hasn't thrown a TD pass... I saw a certain Cinci qb throw like 10 or something during the 2 minute warning. It was sick.

You know, when we run the no huddle, Billy looks pretty good. Why wouldn't they do that more? Answer: because that's not how we want to do it, even if it works. Colts will do it all the time. If they no huddled or went to "hurry up" more, we'd get more points, and we'd likely be able to run better.

I don't know, but they're not playing to Billy's strengths, it seems. It may not matter, but I tell you, I feel a little bad for him. In the end, he does have to suck up, but I think he's getting "the treatment" instead of The Treatment.

I don't remember anyone saying stuff like this before today when Collins was annonuced. There were several complaints about what the team needed, but I don't remember anyone saying we needed to bring in a new QB.

Yeah, the tunes changed all of a sudden once Collins was deposited into the water. (Ewwww!)

Probably what people do to accept change they really didn't want.

If it's better than having Volek, okay, but I am not sure we're going to get the chance to find out.

Wow. ok. Does New Orleans need a quality back-up? This article suggests they need all kinds of help, kind of like us. Ironically, the Colts are involved. I'd give Drew Brees more time than we are giving Billy Volek.

OT:
When Brees' turn came, however, the Saints hit a brick wall. Brees forced some passes that weren't there. He had some receivers let him down. He threw two first-half interceptions, one of them in the end zone, as Manning and the Colts strolled to a 27-14 victory in an NFL exhibition game

some good discussion and insight in this thread...after the site was hacked, this is my first time reading stuff...good start...

I lean towards the thought that the Coach's were really turned off by Volek in some way...and that they signed Collins knowing he would start from Day 1...

Personally, I'd like to see Volek traded...

this may be totally unrealistic...

but I'd go for Volek and Sirmon for Donnie Edwards...

Bipolar, you need to be asking Chow why he won't go downfield not BV. I think a lot of the blame goes to Chow and his lame play calling

I'm kind of feeling the same way. Not 100% on it, but suspicious. What I'm really wondering (because I've seen Chow call downfield plays before -- it's not like it's alien to him) is if the terrible play calling was for Billy primarily, so they could bring in Collins and suddenly start saying that Billy hasn't been playing to expectations. Now I will concur, he's missed some easy reads that would play to his strengths, but I don't think they've tailored the game to him, which you would tend to do if you were behind your starter and wanted them to succeed.
