SUMMARY: Titans Coach Jeff Fisher, who has said rookie Vince Young may start a preseason game, is mum about whether or not Young will be his starting QB on Friday in Green Bay. "He’ll play," Fisher said. 'He’ll probably play about the same playing time he’s had the past couple of weeks." Newest addition Kerry Collins will also make his debut with the Titans as he is getting more comfortable with the offense. Trade rumors continue to surround Billy Volek who may not make the trip for the Packers game. He had no comment based on advice from his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Titans GM Floyd Reese says the addition of Collins shouldn't be seen as a slap in the face for Volek. "From our standpoint we were looking at three quarterbacks with a grand total of (11) starts," said Reese. "And you look at that and think, 'Maybe we do need some veteran experience and maybe we do need somebody that has been through the battles a bit.' And that is where Kerry comes in."

What I found interesting about that article is that it says Volek may not make the trip to Green Bay on advice from his agent.

I say if Rosencrap can get someone to trade us something for Billy, than we should do it.

Whats the point of this? We already know Vince isnt going to be our starter this year, and we just signed a guy who needs all the reps he can get. Unless they dont want to throw Kerry to the lions after only 3 days, and figure that he'd probably fair better against backups.

No, it says he had "no comment" on advice from his agent.
If the team doesn't send him to GB to play, I am just likely to tune out for the season.

Kerry Collins does not QB any team that I want to see win. Ever.

And frankly, while I could understand all that happened with EG and McNair, these last few weeks have demonstrated what a classless and clueless group are calling the shots for the hometown team.

I think there is a chance VY gets the start for the season...On Sirius radio J.Rice said in speaking to Collins he came to Nashville to be a "backup and mentor."

I don't think he meant for Volek. But hey who knows? I don't care if Collins starts the season. I just hope if or when VY goes in he is confident enough not to get discouraged by ignorant fans. Because we all know even though the Mannings sucked their first year, VY will be held to another standard here in TN.

I begining to think they may start VY against the Jets.

If he's ready they would.

But, he'd have to start, and play the better part of, Friday's game. He needs as much work as possible.

I'm still not sure he's there.

Yet. :brow:

Starting VY for a half is an excellent idea. Collins can come in the second half and work out the chinks against the second and third teams. Right now the battle for the #1 spot is between Collins and Young.

If that's the case, it's time they moved BV. And, got something (even if it's just a draft pick) for him.

I can not believe we are not sending BV to the Packers game. Unbelievable. :sad2:

How is this going to affect Bennett or any of the other players that have known Billy for a while? This is just going to be a nightmare in the locker room.

I am kind of disappointed in us not giving Billy a shot to start the season. He really didn't look that bad that spring. He was killed by drops, penalties and poor line play. I don't think there is any reason he should lose his starting job yet. And I don't think there is any way we should let VY start the season. He is definetly not ready.

I dont think he's lost his job yet. Looks to me like hes quiting. He asked for a trade. Sounds like a quiter to me...

Hey, I like the idea of KC being here. I didn't at first but that was because I felt we were pulling something out of the crap pile nobody else wanted. But the more I think about it, the more I like the idea.

KC has experience QB'ing winning teams, experience with multiple systems, and can read defenses and progressions well. The locker room may or may not feel BV was dumped on, but I think when they see how KC can execute a drive, he will rapidly gain their respect. (He already seems to be getting some good stuff out of Calico.)

BV is a nice guy. But let's face it, how long has it been since he had a TD drive? He just hasn't done as well under the Chow system as he did under Dinger. Is it him or Chow? I don't know, but Chow ain't going anywhere. And I also know that KC can't lead any less number of TD drives under Chow than BV. And who knows- either we'll get some compensation for BV in a trade (hopefully OL/DL) or BV will pick his game up. It's all good.

I must have been watching different games than a lot of people. What I saw looked nothing like a QB that could win games. BV has been given his shot, he was announced and given reps as the starting QB and has not performed. I agree the OL is part of the problem but thats who the QB has to play behind and BV has and still does hold on to the ball to long. If BV gives us the best chance to win he should start but if not try Collins and if that doesn't work give VY the experience he's not ready yet but if we have to lose because of the QB let it be him.
