Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

Would any of these QBs go in the first 20 picks in next years draft? My gut says no. I think there are at least 3, may be 4 QBs right now from next year's draft class that would all be the consensus number 1 QB in this year's class. And that's pretty good considering there is always a guy or two not on the radar who breaks through and has a great season.

This list has changed a bit since the thread start

It looks like our first pick, wherever that may be, is going to be either Dotson, Olave, Penning, ZJohnson, Willis, Ridder, or Howell. (Howell not likely a 1st round pick, but neither is anyone else on that list.).

Everyone of our first round picks under JROB made some sort of recorded visit on WF - Davis, Jackson, Evans, Simmons, Farley-- all one visit or another - so you basically begin the process of elimination. (only exception being Wilson, with the covid restrictions in place.)

Treylon Burks has met with us twice…got to put him on the list….he is big and physical which we like

Skye Moore also is a possible late 1st rnd guy

I wonder what % approve of the pick year over year. There are always hair-pullers and parade throwers each time. I think this year could be a real wildcard for emotional reactions. I’m gonna go get good snacks for the show.

Davis I went outside and yelled lol (Lattimore on the board) luckily I lived in the country at the time

Jackson I kinda of expected it, and we needed a CB. So was ok with it.

Evans was the ILB I wanted, I remember it well. I wanted Vander Esch, Evans, or Hubbard that year (3,2,1)

Simmons I was very happy with, we needed a DT/3-4 E, and he was TOP talent prior to injury.

Wilson I watched it on my phone from the breakroom at work -- I just stood there.

Farley I was happy with. I had looked at the list of draft pick visits, and noticed him on there, and watched tape of him days before the draft. I was most definitely predicting either Farley or Newsome at 22.

Howell, Ridder, Strong QB's on the list --

(I'm assuming they met with Pickett privately as well during his PRO)

2022 NFL Draft Prospect Visits Tracked by Team

Pretty interesting that we’ve spent visits on all the top QB’s. Have we met with 1st round QB’s in the previous years?

I think the Tannehill no show secretly pissed off the FO & Vrabel. Wouldn’t be shocked at all to see them go QB if one of the guys they like falls.

Personally, I like Carson Strong the most.

If his knee could hold up, he has the arm talent. Needs to do better looking off defenders though. A hard worker who, if healthy, has starter potential.

Yeah he has crazy arm talent. I think his mobility issues are a bit overblown because he admitted to playing all of last season on a bum knee. Doctors said he couldn’t make it worse so he played.

If we draft a QB they will have time to sit and develop which will be nice. None of them are ready to go day 1 it seems.

The knee is a long-time injury and he had cadaver cartilage used to repair. If that is the permanent solution then you get a steal late in the draft. Don’t see him going before 5th round.

I wrote this blog 2 years ago on Facebook prepping for the draft - I have the actual visit list for 2017, 2019, 2020. But I'd have to do some digging to find the 2018. This is the closest I can come to just off hand.

Draft Picks Visits/Interviews are a big deal for teams interested in a prospect. Even so much to the point where tendencies can be spotted if you actually put pen to paper.

The only exception to the rule was 2018 where Rashaan Evans was taken in 1st as opposed to Harold Landry. But there could have been a number of reasons for #2 position evaluated leaping the 1st --- as we traded up in both scenarios - but let all that be discussed in the comments. (also as "Safety in 2018" is omitted as it was a 4th round pick & not a 3rd.)

When broken down, all 3 of our first 3 draft picks the past 3 years, have made some kind of visit/interview made public to the media. Even moreover, all 3 (2019, 2018, 2017) also were the most scouted/evaluated positions.

2019 - QB 2 RB 3 WR *6* TE 3 OL *8* DL/E *19* LB 3 CB 5 S 5

(19) DL/E - Jeffery Simmons, (6) WR - AJ Brown, (8) OL - Nate Davis

2018 - QB 6 RB 3 WR 8 TE 2 OL 3 DL/E *10* LB *7* CB 4 S 6

(7) LB - Rashaan Evans, , (10) DL/E - Harold Landry (6) S - Dane Cruikshank

2017 - QB 1 RB 2 WR *11* TE 4 OL 4 DL/E *9* LB 5 CB *10* S 2

(11) WR - Corey Davis (10) CB - Adoree Jackson (11) WR - Taywan Taylor

This year, per WF, PFF, and other spaced out single sources - the position groups that have made visits/workouts/interviews/facetimes that are available to the media are as follows:

(covid-19 also having an affect on most OFFICIAL 30 visits.)

QB 2 RB 2 WR 4 TE 0 OL *4* DL/E *7* LB 0 CB *6* S 1

I do recall one of the 2018 QBs interviewed was Josh Allen but I think that was a minor attempt at draft flow manipulation.

But to ask have we touched on almost every top quarterback within this class - it would appear not since JROB had taken over

2019 was only mid round QBs like Shurmur, etc.

2020 same story with QBs like Peyton Ramsey.
