I remember early on, Mike was mocking Titans Report for having a bunch of ads. I have never visited that site, but I can't imagine it's worse than here.
• PC with ad block, unusable without disabling ad block. Ok

○ 3-4 consecutive ads before you see an actual post within a thread.. then 2 posts later more consecutive ads.
I see the thread about guests.. how can you think blasting ads in someone's face is going to make them join? It's literally paywalled.
What I see is GoTitans members being milked because they were desperate for a landing spot.. an issue was created, and solution was provided, at a cost.
Even though there was the promise of "less moderation", I figure this will be deleted and banned vs an actual discussion but needed to be called out

Bullshit, I would never ban someone for having a voice. I'm still learning ad placement with google, it's a learning curve between having to many ads and to little only making a few pennies a day, unfortunately the site isn't large enough yet to use ad agencies that pay better and serve more ads geared towards our content resulting in more clicks.
This page gets a lot of traffic, 10's of thousands of hits per day, using over a TB of bandwidth a month, bandwidth isn't cheap. When Jeff was giving up the site and demanded everything deleted, I invested over $2,500 into this site between domain name changes until we found a great name that didn't cause drama, server costs, a XenForo License and a bunch of add-ons to make this site fun. Sportsbook, and Pick'em was $100 right there plus the very many both front end and back end addons. Sorry not sorry some ads hurt your feelings. What have you contributed to me recovering some of the $2,500 I put into this site? Oh right, nothing! well other then running your mouth several times now on the way you don't like how I run this site. Maybe you should go spend some time at TR and then realize what you have here rather then always being so ungrateful! We have 96 members currently, 77 of them view the same ads as you do, but here we are.. you the only one bitching.

Today was first game since using the limited views before registering.. Guess what? We converted FIVE guests to members today. Week two's game we converted zero and week one we converted one. Also you are not paywalled, you can still view all public posts as a registered member without restrictions. A Paywall blocks you from viewing all content unto you buy a paid subscription. Like it says.. wall until you pay.
How fast we forget about your group chat rant.. Site is 100% usable as a registered user, I'm pretty sure you are using it right now, servers aren't cheap, bandwidth isn't cheap and a bill due monthly, It's simple throw a $5 bill a month towards the cost, or view ads. HFBoards, are just like me, trying to recover our costs of running a community for you. You'd prolly be disappointed now at HFBoards as they are just hockey now. Yeap, not gonna ban you for having a voice. This site will only be lightly moderated as needed, mostly just moving threads to the correct section. Aren't many communities that can say that, you have a good thing here.
And as you can see, I'm not getting rich off these ads either, but every little bit helps towards the monthly bills of running this site. This is my Adsense, that just reset for the day....
I hesitate to comment on this because I have not contributed monetarily to this site, yet.
First, thank you Mike for the vast amount of work and personal resources you’ve put into keeping this community going. I doubt any of us know all you have actually done for us. Thank you.
Second, I have zero clue about website stuff, but the sheer amount of ads you have to wade through to read forum posts is off putting. If I weren’t a member of GoTitans (sorry) since 2006, I would just move from this site simply because of the ads. It’s way too much. I have no idea if or how you could remedy this, just stating my feelings.
Third, the Chat Box is redundant. Actually, it’s worse than redundant. Chat box lends itself to “one-off” comments, not conversation. Automatically posting Chat Box comments in the game day thread defeats the purpose of the game day thread and Chat Box. Plus, it’s frustrating.
Again, not bagging on you, Mike. Just offering some observations from someone very familiar with the old site but not a part of the “inner circle.”

Thank you for your input. Yes Google ads is not something I know a lot about. I been learning and reading on best placements. I know ads have reduced in last few days then this time last week. It is something I'm working on.
Your input on the chatbox does make sense and will be something to consider, I do know some love the feature it going to game day threads, so I will need to weigh that too. It's hard to take something away once you give it
For ads, ideally I want to serve more places to guests, less ads to registered members and none to Blue Crew members.
Makes sense.
On the Chatbox issue, look at who actually uses it. Not guests. It’s like 8 guys who really liked using it on the old site. Keep it for them but don’t force it on everyone else just because they like it.
