So the D can finally start performing without him (similar to Chicago) and hold out hope that he can return for the playoffs to f it all up again?

Put him on permanent IR, for the season and forever. We can get some no name players to not get sacks and not contain the edges.

They are all bad, but Landry is without a doubt a better pass rusher. This could be Landry's least productive season as a pass rusher. It would be an average year for Clowney.
Laundry is already playing. Who is on the bench who is going to replace Clowney that’s better?

Point being, we’re all disappointed with Clowney’s production but to wish him to remain on IR the rest of the season is dumb.

Clowney isnt a huge loss. Dude looks slow and uninterested 95% of the time. He "makes a play" here and there when he has a clear path to the ball. If he has someone in his way he just doesn't give any effort.

So remind me who a better pass rusher is on the roster than Clowney?
I thought Roberson did better and for about a 10th of the cost or less.

Real question to add with "who is the better pass rusher" is who can also stop the run and contain the QB because Clowney was not good at the latter.

I think Landry is fantastic, not as a pure pass rusher, but just as a super active guy. He also played 62 of 63 snaps today. And has put up similar numbers most of the year. And he wore down towards the end of last year.

Correa, possibly?

whoops. Surprised they burned that bridge in favor of Beasley, who wasn't even trying.

I'm sure Correa sucks on the Jags, but with Simmons in the middle, he may have been able to do something here. Seems like he wasn't given any chance this season.

Can't quite explain why, but the pass rush does seem better without Clowney in.

The rush is better because Clowney is a lazy POS. Just goes through the motions brings zero intensity. I'll be glad when he's off the team next year we finally understood why teams didn't want to pay him expect the dumb Shi t stain browns.

Clowney don't play dat....(or play hardly ever)

Does the fact that Butler/King/Borders is infinitely better than Butler/Joseph/Jackson have anything to do with an improved pass rush?

If the qb is going to be moving right, they leave open a hole for clowney to the left and he runs right through it, into an empty backfield.

That's the entire point of my point. Put CB's out there that can stay on my television screen and you start getting the occasional sack.
