no other player is on the market for either.
That said,
14.2 mil for Davis is too much
13.4 mil for J Brown is too much
8.6 mil for Smith is probably too much
and that's for the transition tags vice franchise tag.
So, nope, don't see us using them.
At 16 million for the tag I'd try to sign CD to 3 years 5 million

Can’t set the tag rates until the cap is finalized. But Jonny at 8mil is doable on the transition tag. I doubt they use em though.

I would imagine with the cap going down that hardly any teams will use the franchise tag.
That’s the only likely candidate I can think of.
I don’t think the floor will drop out, but wouldn’t be surprised to see it between 185-188. The hope I think, is owners like Jones who don’t want to take a step backwards and will push for a higher number.

Its a good tool to buy a team time to get an extension done. Tagging a player doesnt mean youre locked in at that number necessarily
I still think that when it’s all said and done the cap will be at or over $200 mIllion. The new TV deal will drive that and the current players will push to borrow future cap money. A current player doesn’t care what happens to players 3 years from now.
