Did you see the numbers on those tags? No way we can afford them with our cap situation. It is just not happening.
Our cap situation will improve with cuts and restructuring. When they know the cap number, they will know if that makes sense or not. My gut tells me JR believes he can sign 2nd and 3rd tier guys and do just as well. If so, I wish him well. We are not exactly the kings of FA.

Transition tag would be worthwhile on either CD or Jonnu I think.

Also if we lose jonnu, CD, and king/jayon I wonder what sort of draft comp we'd get

I don't see any of them signing a deal that would bring us a 3rd rnder. To get a 3rd the APY of the deal would need to be around 14mil. Also I would assume that we would sign a FA or 2 ourselves which would cancel out anyone we lost. If we aren't going after any top tier FAs then we could wait until after the draft to sign anyone and then they would not count as a qualifying FA and would thus not cancel out anyone we lost.

I agree it will, but even if you get say 40 mill in cap space are you going to pay CD 15 mill? Or Jonnu close to 10? You have to improve the pass rush and fill a ton of FA spots. You just can’t give one of these players a tag. It will take up too much cap space. You could re-sign them but not tag them. No way we tag any of these players.

I still think that when it’s all said and done the cap will be at or over $200 mIllion. The new TV deal will drive that and the current players will push to borrow future cap money. A current player doesn’t care what happens to players 3 years from now.

I think Corey Davis could sign for 14+

Well, that goes back to the consistency theme used with the coaches. Do they feel that keeping as many pieces of the offense together is the best thing? I guess we will find out over the next several weeks. My personal opinion is we don’t keep many of these guys and load up on those 2nd and 3rd tier guys. That seems to be the Robinson way for the most part.

completely agree.

Tough market for CD with Robinson, Godwin, Golladay, Hilton and Smith-Schuster being FAs too
Not that I can't see him getting 14 mil, but it will shake out after those others sign imo

This is why i think he will be around 12m, maybe even less. I think it's important for us to bring back guys thst are familiar with our team/system vs bring in new players. I think we need to bring back jonnu and jayon first. Let cd test the market, if we can het him at 12m or less bring him back. Then worry about fas.

I think Davis gets helped by the fact that Robinson, Godwin and Golladay are going to get signed or tagged by their own teams. Hilton is old and about done. Smith -Schuster is his closest comparable. Both #2 WRs who need an strong #1 to succeed. But I think they both get contracts in the $12-13 per average. But truly in the NFL it isn’t about the per year amount it’s about the guaranteed money.

$12 million per average sounds about right.

I agree, but I think we will get CD for 10 per year...around the same as Tyler Boyd

Godwin I can see re-signing with TB...not sure Robinson gets tagged, that situation doesn't seem to be a good relationship.

Meanwhile the salary cap comes in at 182.5 million, right where everyone else said it would be lol
