The Titans needed to be perfect this off-season to take another leap to the superbowl, but they weren't.
None of their draft picks are making significant contributions, and none of the free agents have helped.

At the end of the day, the titans have a superbowl-worthy offense, matched with a terrible defense that can't get off the field on 3rd down and a below average special teams.
Nothing can be done about that.

It sucks because next year I would not doubt that tennessee would be a middle of the pack team.

People want to point to the defensive coordinator as the problem, but when you don't have talent to do what you need to do no amount of coaching will solve it.
Cleveland had the perfect game plan against the titans, but it is still the titans generate no pass rush and our corners coverage goes way down after the first two mississippis.
Just deal with it.
Last year wasn't a fluke, but last year's team was head and shoulders better than this one.

I hear you....Not having a DC doesn’t help though. I say that because guys that played well last year have regressed. That said, I do think it sucked losing veteran leaders like Ryan, Casey, Woodyard, more than we thought. It just feels different this year....Our defense is full on abysmal. Even if Adoree was there, I’m betting it would be abysmal. Poorly coached, bad play, you name it. It’s a shame because our offense is potent.

8-4 and in position to win the south

Just sayin...
That is true, but the titan team that made it to the afc championship game was far better than their 9-7 record and had less bad games.

This team just gave up 38 points in the first half of the game against cleveland. That is mind-blowingly bad.

Our defense finished last year ranked 12th. This year they are 25th. Huge difference

Losing Casey and Adoree maybe the biggest losses from last year.
No one could have known that Beasley and Clowney would be so completely ineffective.
Wilson is the biggest mistake by far, cant blame the other draft picks injuries on JROB.
McDonald instead of Blankenship was the second biggest mistake of the offseason.

Just my two cents.
The moves made sense at the time not one person thought that V. Beasley would pull a no show during TC (not saying that most didn't already dislike this signing) after that it was all downhill as far as getting anything and I mean anything out of him , A. Jackson would be IR and or inactive all of this season so far , J. Clowney would not play as most hoped ( again some did some didn't ) J. Casey getting traded ( didn't like it but business move ) and at the moment most telling NO Defensive Coordinator ( who am I kidding WE all saw this one coming ). Drafting a Tackle in the 1st a Cornerback in the 2nd then a Running back in the 3rd all made sense and were a need. Most of our biggest complaints (can't remember every board members name) was NOT drafting the kicker in the 7th round R. Blanksomething something (the one the f**king clots stole).
Not one member here saw this coming. We're down to our 3rd string LT , Lewan and TY Sam out for the year and can't use our 1st Rd Tackle because he is still in Bikini Bottom. We had to start not just play J. Joseph at CB because A. Jackson and our 2nd rd CB are hurt. We have had to use other RBs because our 3rd rb is also hurt. I'm not even going to mention Special Teams which has also cost us plenty ( should have drafted Blanksomething something ).

All of this has transpired and yet we're 8-4. I'll take IT !!! I'm still not far removed from the 3-13 and 2-14 seasons to not enjoy this record. Like any fan I want a better record and our team to just win by blowouts. But man I didn't see or expect this little to no contribution from the off-season and draft.

If anyone here DID see all of this coming, please send me the Lotto Numbers for this week's lottery.

While I believe that Vrabel is a good head coach, his arrogance in not naming a defensive coordinator has done more to sink this team than anything else.

You kind of contradict yourself here. Maybe if we had decent defensive coaching (read - a DC) then we would have decent game plans?

Pretty bad when your RB is your best defensive scheme to keep the other team from scoring points.

Somebody should pie Vrabel when he's up there making excuses for the D.

And he cant even actually address the real issue because he would be pointing at himself.. So instead he makes excuses and blames the players... When an entire side of the ball regresses... it isnt the players, its the coaching and schemes.

Losing Kerry Coombs as the secondary coach was probably the biggest loss of all. I have no idea why we didn't just make him the DC.

I think Vrabel's confidence (arrogance) is such that he felt he could do the job as good or better than Coombs or anyone else he could hire.

Every time we see him on camera shaking his head after a team has converted another third-and-long, I bet he's blaming a player for blowing an assignment.

I'm hoping he'll be accepting of hiring a DC this offseason.

This right here. Our biggest enemy very well may be Vrable's ego.
