I play FF and I argue sports A LOT. I believe I probably waste more time collectively between my own and everyone I drag into arguments than any 2 people I work with. Not the best thing to brag about, but I love talking football and arguing with dummies that buy national narratives.
I’ve made it my mission to do a couple things this year.
1. I always make fans better fans by teaching them their own history. I love the history of the game, not just Oilers/Titans, and usually off the cuff I can go deep. I also now work with a lot of folks born in the 90’s or even 2000’s. They don’t know shit.
2. I made an “outrageous” claim earlier this year (Feb-ish) that Kirk Cousins is better than Lamar Jackson. Now reality is, I don’t really care if I’m wrong but I love to point out double standards and try to get people to look at things a little different. I also use the English language to hold people accountable for what they’re saying.
As example, a guy recently said someone could have a “Lamar Jackson” type season. I asked what that means because it’s subjective. In his explanation, he dropped the “elite” word which is also subjective. If nothing else, he had to really consider some sort of quantification to actually compare and contrast outside of how they feel about something.
