2003 was a hit or miss draft:

Woolfolk
Calico
Brown
Long
Nickey
Williams

Three seasons later, it's officially an epic miss.

YES!!!

No clutch players, only "crutch" players.

As far as Calico- He still has the same catch skills he had as a rookie. His physical attributes WERE good but now he has bum wheels. We've been hearing the same story on him since he got.

Sure he can compete for a roster spot, but I think he is definitely a BUST and short of miraculous change in his game we are foolish to waste a valuable roster spot on him.

I also believe that Calico has some potential but I just don't understand why the guy keeps dropping passes. Did he have the same problem in college?

I don't follow MTSU closely, but I understand he has the same skills he had then. It appears he was a "project" that just didn't develop like we hoped.

I think Calico deserves another off-season to get better. He's under contract anyhow, so why not just stick him somewhere with a juggs machine? What's it hurt? The fact is that he DOES still have potential. This is just a bad season, and everything has been magnified by losing.

BE PATIENT.

Please. Injury or not, he has never been able to catch a ball consistently. That was the "project" objective.

FACE IT. HE DOESN'T HAVE GOOD HANDS!!!!

I say again: BE PATIENT. He's under contract anyways...give him another offseason to get healthy, better (Sherman, WRs' coach). Losing sucks, but that's what's great about everywhere in the NFL but Detroit: there's always next year.

Even the Bengals are Division Champs this season...

I don't have any problem with letting him compete for his roster spot next year. I just hope we draft or pick up a physical receiver. I've seen him drop too many, look over the wrong shoulder, fail to jump, jump to early, wear the CB's like a cape, etc. He doesn't play special teams.

There is just nothing encouraging about his game. I'm as disappointed as anybody but being patient is going to make him any better. Roster spots are too valuable. He better look solid and not get hurt in camp or he's out.

Look at this garbage no wonder we suck so bad with this "There is always next year" " Let him develop" talk.

So if we have another losing season the same guys are gonna spew out the same "Next year" talk. While the Colts and Jags reach the playoffs and teams that haven't reach the playoffs in decades will do so again.

Potential means nothing when the player is on the sideline the guy has done nothing but smash a chick in a car and he probally couldn't even grip her with those hands of his.

The guy is only good on Madden

you dont think every other team goes through this?

Reese really crippled the Titans by keeping the 9/27/89/90ect team together for to long - although that is hindsite by me.

Philly and NE are examples of teams that do it differently - they basically do not sign their guys to big second contracts. Not saying they never do. Tennessee should not have signed EG to his second deal and should have taken a HB in the first the year he was a FA, plus would have gotten a compensation pick that Reese could have traded to Houston for who knows what.

BUT the real reason the Titans are where they are is Reese's lack of draft success combined with his mortgaging the CAP. Again this is hindsite on my part but hopefully it does not need to be repeated.

So when CB is due to become a FA he should be sent forth. TH should not have been signed. And the HB position should recieve a "value" pick every season, and a high pick when the starter is allowed to go FA.

The epic battle continues next training camp and when things turn around, true Titans fans will too. Deltha O'Neal was considered a failure in Broncos land after 4 years, then traded away, then he became a Pro Bowler and has dessimated the Titans each time we have face Cinncinatti since then. He has 10 picks this year (wow). Total Titans ints = 9. I remember being impressed by him and many Broncos fans said many of the things on the Broncos boards that Titans fans say about you know who on this board. They cheered when he got dumped.... Now he is flying high.... Despite the few bad games this year, Andre has had some pretty good ones as well. I won't zero in on the bad because the good ones show improvement. At least the bad ones were vs. Hall of Fame Receivers - Holt, Harrison (The games which afterwards Titans fans were yelling get him out of here and He's a Bust, etc.). I guess the whole secondary is busted because the whole secondary has been torched all year. Ironic that the worst defeats all came in games in which he didn't start or play.... ok...... Done with this thread and see ya later...... you anti Andre people have fun with this one....... WU

Calico basically isn't cutting it no way around that nor is Brown or Woolfolk they all need to be let go in place of some guys who will stay healthy. Catch and hold on to passes, Run hard like a RB should, Not lose their jobs to 7th rounders.
Joints being popped out of socket from impact have nothing to do with conditioning, nothing at all. Have you ever had a joint out of socket, I have and it eventually healed where it doesn't pop out anymore or go into extreme pain, after 2 years. I am 39 and this happened 4 years ago. It had nothing to do with the conditioning (it was my pinky). It was knocked out of socket by impact on the Bball court. Now, injuries are unfortunate and Andre did lose his job officially in injured status. 7th round job loss, hmm, no denying it happened and Andre is a fighter and quoting him: "That was the worst day of my life" Those were his words, being injured again, but he knew it wasn't season ending. He will fight hard, work hard, etc. and battle for the spot again next training camp. Now what will you or anyone else on the board say if he wins the starting CB spot back in camp. Will you say it was given or will you admit he earned it..... At this point in the season, it really doesn't matter. I have one week left to chill on this board and I will be back in late spring for a cameo and then in Camp for the continued saga.......... Just believe this people. I don't know what is going to happen at WR or at RB, but the CB spots will be a battle next fall. 2 years left on a guaranteed is for sure, so the battle will ensue. I guess all you finallity type of talkers as in he is a bust - cut him, will become ex-fans if (when) he wins the job back. You'll probably call for Fisher's removal or something. You'll say why. I will say, because you are not a coach and don't make the decisions. There is no special treatment, so just like Hill earned his spot, he has to fight to keep it. He has been burned just as regulary as he has made plays. In the last 4 games, Andre was beat for a TD one time, by Marvin Harrison from the 7 yard line and he was there just didn't stop him from scoring. Hill was beat about 7 times. The last two games, only one pass for 12 yards was caught on Andre and they needed 17 (he made the tackle). Sounds like improvement to me. All the passes went to the outside because he was covering the slot receiver well enough to take that part of the field away - He is improving and the longest epic post in my board posting days is finally done. Being a good uncle myself, I admire your tenacity. And being a Titan Fan, I hope your optimism is proved true. I think KVB is proof positive of your argument. We need to have patience, this is going to take longer than we thought. We are all tired of it. So what, do any of us think the team is not tired of it too? Do Floyd, Jeff, Norm and the boys like to lose? Of course they don't. Here is to hoping that we can win 5 games this year. Draft position be damned. Injuries be damned. But mostly, damn the Jags.

Obviously, a number of players have not played up to expectations, and frustration is not only understandable, but is to be expected.

However, the Titans gain absolutely nothing by releasing them before training camp next year. Their cap hit is minimal, and releasing them does nothing more than create another hole that will need to be filled.

Calico's stats may not be all that impressive, but he's contributed more than Eddie Berlin and Darrell Hill did in four years.

Woolfolk may not have developed into the shutdown corner that the Titans clearly hoped he would be, but if they were to release him, then you can add nickelback to the team's list of holes to fill. Woolfolk is pretty darn solid as a nickel...the chances of finding equal talent at an affordable salary would be slim.

I guess what I'm saying is this: forget about draft positions and "bust" labels...once the season starts, the only thing that matters is what these guys can do on the field. And until the team finds someone who can come in and do a better job for less money, then I see no reason to even consider cutting these guys.
