Rather than the authoritarian pounding of the table and saying we should have done this I will invite discussion. I did not advocate this before the draft, I did not think Taylor would be there at 29.

My viewpoint assumes several things.

1. Johnathan Taylor is special. He is the best RB in this draft.

2. I'm only luke warm about our first rd pick. I'm afraid Wilson will be like TJ Fluker and will end up playing inside at guard.

3. I'm not convinced that Evans is an every down back.

4. Expensive long term deals for 27 year old RBs are usually a mistake.

Curious what the response will be. It just seems to me that if we cannot sign Henry in 2021 we will be using a 1st rd pick on a RB anyway.

Nice post...I’m kind of torn here. I really think adding Taylor would have made our backfield elite. It would have given us 2 three down backs in case Henry goes down for some reason, and emphasized our pound the ball physically x2. It would also put pressure on Henry to stay competitive and work out a fair deal. That said, Henry is clearly our bell cow, so how much would Taylor get the rock? Wilson may end up our starter....

The age difference between Taylor and Henry is 5 years, exact to the month. The contractual difference between what Henry might sign for in 2021 and what the 29th pick would make is at least $10M a year. Probably more like $12M.

Absolutely....That said, Henry is experienced and a proven commodity. We have no clue what Taylor will be in the NFL (chances are good he will be fine) but it’s honestly a who knows....

Taylor would not get the ball a lot for one season if Henry is healthy. That would be a good thing because it would be an opportunity to restore himself coming off a heavy workload in college.

While it pains me to let go of Henry after this year we probably cannot afford him anyway with what RT makes and the other guys we need to sign. Taylor would likely become the main guy in 2021.

It's the same for any position. We are replacing our starting RT with an unproven rookie guy.

Taylor can prove himself as Henry's backup this year.

No. We had bigger needs to fill.

It’d be nice if the rest of the division didn’t get any picks, but the Titans just need to be onboard with the idea of teams not handing them a division or a conference or a SB. They’re gonna have to beat good teams.

every year good players get drafted by other teams, can’t spend time second guessing.

Absolutely, but Wilson helps support the existing run game which is very good. Would Kelly do that alone? Say Kelly goes down, then what? I get what you’re saying, but what is the “need”...We still got a very competent RB. If we didn’t, that would be a completely different story. I get it though. Colts backfield is nasty.....

I was hoping we would take AJ Dillon in the third. I figured vrabels son playing with him, he might be a fan. Seems to be Henry 2.0.

Packers screwed that up by taking him in the second.

I'm just not that big on him. He's got a lot of carries on him. The fumbles are a problem. He dropped some balls. I didn't want RB in the 1st, but if we took one, I would have preferred Swift.

You know that kid almost went to Harvard? Jonathan Taylor. He majored in astronomy and physics at Wisconsin.

You would think he would have ended up at a school closer to Harvard academically, which still has a FBS football program. A school like Stanford or Northwestern.

Maybe Wisconsin has a particular good astronomy and physics dpt?

You don't take RBs in the 1st round in general, but especially not when you already have en elite starting RB. I'm just going to leave it at that.

Supposedly the cap may be going up 40 million in 2021. I think we'll be able to retain Henry just fine.

Johnathan Taylor 27 year old have done table anyway.
Rathan the draft, I did not sign Henry in 2021 we should RB and saying a mistake.

2. I did not convite the be. I'm not severy down back. It just rd pick only luke TJ Fluke will befor would RBs are at Evans is to me that if we warm deals for would before using we warm afraid not convinced the response will be things.

My viewpoint advocate think Taylor would RB and sayings.

3. It just rd pick.

2. I'm only luker this I will end up playing invit
Evans is are using a mistake.

cF - Curious what that Evans is an every in 2021 we cannot convinced the response will be using term deals for 27 year old RBs an every in 2021 we cannot convinced the response will be. It just rd pick on a 1st rd pick on a RBs are using a mistake.

Curious what that if we cannot seems to me the response will be using a RBs are using term deals for 27 year old RB an every in 2021 we cannot convinced the response will be. It just sign Henry in 2021 we will be. It just rd pic

I'm the biggest JT truther you will meet, but it's about positional value. Theres no RB I wouldve taken at 29. But JT is going to be a top 5 RB in this league very quickly.

My concern about Taylor as a prospect is that the offense was built around him and that O-Line was filled with NFL players.

Then again I had the same concerns about MGIII. And Ron Dayne. So I guess we'll see.

18 fumbles with 15 of those fumbles being turnovers. He turns the ball over, so the risk is there that he sees the bench, but the Colts wanted their guy and went up. Curious with all the those miles on him as well how successful he will be.
