the King is off to a great start and I held off a couple weeks to get this started.
He is currently in the lead early to claim the rushing title for a 3rd year in a row to match only Emmitt Smith and Jim Brown as the only 2 others to accomplish this.
He’s also on pace for back to back 2K seasons and potentially a new NFL record with an extra regular season game.

Here’s the current race AND King Henry vs. previous 2K rushers:
73’ Simpson - 813
03’ Lewis - 742
98’ Davis - 657
Henry - 640
20’ Henry - 588
Chubb - 523
84’ Dickerson - 498
09’ CJ2K - 468
97’ Sanders - 466
Elliott - 452
12’ Peterson - 420
Robinson - 387

Current lead is 117 over Chubb
Current deficit to OJ Simpson (73’) 173 although this is about beating Dickerson (84’) which he leads by 142. (Chubb is also ahead by 25 yards).

Not all stats have been updated for week 5 considering game KC/Buf are still playing and Indy/Balt are tomorrow, so only current top 4 for 2021 are listed.
Update week 6

73’ Simpson - 868
98’ Davis - 865
03’ Lewis - 843
20’ Henry - 800
Henry - 783
84’ Dickerson - 605
09’ CJ2K - 596
97’ Sanders - 573
Chubb - 523
Elliott - 521
12’ Peterson - 499
Mixon - 480
J. Taylor - 472
Robinson - 460

Still holding pace with the best and making a run at Campbell's Season TD record again.

260 yard lead for the season title, #3 straight.

@HurrayTitans! -- since you like looking up stats could you do this:

each rush over 50 yards, categorized by year, indicate if TD and if you're feeling like a troll include the opponent

i expect a lot of Texans and Jags in that list

Update week 6

73’ Simpson - 868
98’ Davis - 865
03’ Lewis - 843
20’ Henry - 800
Henry - 783
84’ Dickerson - 605
09’ CJ2K - 596
97’ Sanders - 573
Chubb - 523
Elliott - 521
12’ Peterson - 499
Mixon - 480
J. Taylor - 472
Robinson - 460

Still holding pace with the best and making a run at Campbell's Season TD record again.

260 yard lead for the season title, #3 straight.
Update week 7 - Chubb, Elliott, Robinson were idle, a new leader added. Note the historical players are just after game 7, not necessarily week 7.

73’ Simpson - 1025
98’ Davis - 1001
03’ Lewis - 977
20’ Henry - 875
Henry - 869
09’ CJ2K - 824
97’ Sanders - 788
84’ Dickerson - 780
12’ Peterson - 652
J. Taylor - 579
Mixon - 539
Chubb - 523
Elliott - 521
Lamar jackson - 480
Robinson - 460

Henry’s rushing title lead still grew today as #2 is now Jonathan Taylor, 290 yards back.

To note: Henry has 191 carries, Mixon is #2 w/ 123. Only 3 other players have 100 and Henry has more than 100 carries more than almost everyone, 9 backs are less than that far behind.

Simpson in 73’ before he murdered those 2 cheating lovers was insane! That was a year before I was born. White Bronco ruined errything. My pizza delivering ass couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Those stats tell me Henry has a big dick. Only a big dick can carry a big load. Been confirmed on video….

Since the historical seasons aren’t really a secret for anyone that wants to look them up, I can agree that this particular season for Simpson was insane. He reaches 2k in 14 games. Dickerson also reaches 2k in 15 games.

I’ll also let you know that despite the lead Simpson/Davis currently have, some of the other guys will catch up.

No. NFL was still on 14 game seasons that year. A full 16 was averaged to be a record 2289.

really we could probably go back in time and change lots of records though. The same will be said going forward as we have 17 games now.

in regards to rushing it is probably more fair to include extra games since the game favors passing so heavily..

pass records stand no chance going forward

Without a doubt. It’s almost stupid the league was recognizing Brady and brees these past couple years for all time TD and yards.

For RB, it almost gives them some sort of shot to reach Emmitt, although not likely. RB life span is just too short for too many and even if they last til later, their workload typically gets heavily reduced.
I’ve got hope for Henry, but let’s tackle 10K and EG before talking Emmitt.

Happened to look this up as well
Career post season rushing yards
EG 776
Henry 670

With 2 post season games, Henry should easily pass him, may only take 1.
EG is 15 all time, Henry is 21 currently.
With a 5 yard run, he’ll pass that fat piece of crap, Bettis.
Current #1 is Emmitt w/ 1586

So after the super unfortunate news today, we all know Henry is going to miss some time. There is a question about how much and with such a lead, the thread may still hold true.
While I spoke specifically about his quest for back to back 2K seasons and breaking Eric Dickerson's record (and maybe Earl Campbell's team TD record) He will still be very much in the hunt for season rushing title, his 3rd in a row.

Here are the top 5 after Week 8
Henry - 937 (288 yard lead)
Jonathan Taylor - 649 (92.7 ypg)
Mark Ingram - 615
Nick Chubb - 584
Joe Mixon - 572
Zeke Elliott - 571

I expect after 8 weeks, Henry will be surpassed. Probably even within 6. If Taylor stays on pace, it will only take 3 and part of the 4th game to surpass Henry.
I don't see Ingram keeping pace.
If he returns with 2-3 game left and within about 200 yards, I legit think Henry still has a shot at the rushing title.

As the injury recovery goes along, we may get more info that it's for sure not gonna happen.

+500 yards / 6 weeks = 83 yards/gm. That's the -200 yards scenario you mentioned.

that assumes he'll be back after 6 weeks

if it's 8 weeks, 500/8 = 63 yards/gm

meh
