#1-we are going to have a hard time trying to sign Hartwig to a good deal
#2 Bentely is just getting out of NO and he will want to go some place that appears to be close to contending or contending
#3-A good center can cost good money. Quite frankly, we dont have that kinda money yet
maximus:

Hartwig will settle for what we give him. He will NOT be in high demand.

#2 & #3 Bentley will go any where as long as they pay him. Why you ask? Because centers don't get paid a lot of money. They just don't. They are easily the most replaceable part of the O-line. Don't ask me why but they just don't get the money that others do.

TitanJeff:

We brought in Mark Stepnoski and after he left we brought in two more centers I can't recall their names. We even brought in two in one year only to cut the guy we got from the Dolphins in preseason.

We have historicaly spent money on need items when rebuilding. This may very well be the time where we do it again.

Bruce Matthews played center after Stepnoski left. After that, it has been a string of cheap, solid guys.

Kevin Long got drafted late and started for a while. Then Gennaro DiNapoli started. And when he wanted to get paid, the Titans kicked him to the curb (and he bombed in Dallas) and moved Hartwig to center despite having never played before.

If they stick with their recent history, Hartwig will be gone and we'll have a cheap vet or rookie starting at center in 2006. And it's not like Hartig was all that great where he's worth a lot of money.

Gennaro DiNapoli came from the Raiders and we also brought in the Dolphins former starting center but cut him in preseason. I could have sworn before Matthews we had another center.

We got DiNapoli for a late round pick, and he wasn't expensive. And the did sign they Jags' center (who's name I can't remember) and then cut him in camp.

Stepnoski played center for the Oilers through 1998. Matthews started 1999 at center before Scott Sanderson got injured and he moved to guard. Long started at center for the rest of the year and through 2000. In 2001, he started a few games before Matthews moved to center and Piller took his place at guard.
