sorry it’s not an oilers titans poll, but you could really help me with a small project I’m working on by answering.

Don’t care what criteria you use, I would like to see some explanation why you chose one over the other but it’s up to you.

Appreciate the help.

Both were great, but Marino WAS special. His release was so quick and accurate, and he put up modern numbers when dinosaurs mauled the receiver on D. He would kill in today’s league

Not gonna lie, I thought this was obvious to most but apparently there is a crowd that not only believes Kelly is better, but also believes it is nearly unanimous that he’s better.

I’m curious to see a Kelly vote with any reasoning.

It's the same crowd that thinks the music city miracle was a forward pass.

Marino was the better QB...if he had the running game and D that Kelly had he would have been even better and possibly if Marino went to 4 SBs he would have won at least 2

Sounds like a crowd that has jumped thru one too many folding tables in parking lots

considering the fact you can't even touch the QB in today's age, Marino would be the goat if this were his generation.
I think any skill position players from back in the day would feast on the league in it's current state, outside maybe some defenders like DL,LBs, and possibly RB.

A lot of DBs would have trouble today. That is the biggest difference, and what makes being a QB a lot easier. They really tightened up what you can do to a WR down field.

Going further back, Dick "Night Train" Lane used to tackle by the head.

A lot of old OL would have trouble today because of changes to protect defensive players. Those Shannehan Broncos teams were notorious for those blocks.

Kelly was good and had a much better supporting cast. Marino had the arm accuracy and toughness, his teams just weren’t as good as the ones the bills had.

Had Marino left Miami he would have certainly won a super bowl.

Marino was never the GOAT.

it went from Montana to Brady.
LOL... I was talking as a QB

clearly Montana won more. And what he did in KC, although no championships there, was amazing.

and yes Montana GOAT prior to Marino

before Montana I would say Namath ( without looking things up ) and before Namath Unitas ( based purely on reputation as I never saw him play except as an old man if I saw him at all )

I guess I am taking playing QB as separate from being on a winning team.

Zero doubt in my mind that T17 best QB titans have had not named McNair since moving from Cowtown. But the vy nut swingers would pathetically point out that clowns W% as meaning something other than he had a good defense for a few years

And I will give credit to old man manning handing the rock to the RB and winning a ring... that is solid QB play... if you have the defense you can win championships being a game manager as a QB. But that dont make him GOAT IMO

Tom Brady vs. NFL's Greatest Quarterbacks

Montana vs Brady

Why Montana is better: Unlike almost any other quarterback in NFL history, Joe Montana actually embraced the bright lights of the postseason. In fact, he was better by a full three points in passer rating in the postseason (95.6) than the regular season (92.3).

He is also the Super Bowl leader in passer rating and set the record for single-season passer rating in 1989 (only to have his record broken five years later by Steve Young).

Why Brady is better: Both Brady and Montana had good defenses when they won Super Bowls, but Brady enjoyed his Super success without the blessing of top-quality receiving talent. Brady has also been a far more efficient passer on his career, a 96.4 career passer rating to Montana's 92.3.

That being said, it's far easier to be more efficient these days than it was when Montana was torching defenses in the '80s.

Who's better?: Joe Montana

Marino vs Brady
Why Marino is better: Dan Marino was putting up big numbers before big numbers became pedestrian. His record of 48 touchdown passes in a single season, set back in 1984, stood until 2004.

Marino was ahead of his time and did it when the rules didn't so heavily favor the offenses. Brady is just now getting his taste of carrying the team to victory, but Marino did it for a long period of his career.

Why Brady is better: As prolific as Marino was as a passer in the regular season, Brady has been more efficient when the stakes are higher. Brady's postseason passer rating of 87.6 may be tame by his lofty standards, but it's still better than Marino's 77.1.

Just like Marino can't take the blame for having never won a Super Bowl, Brady wasn't the only reason the Patriots won three Super Bowls in four years, or that they've been to five in 11 years.

Who's better?: Tom Brady
