Two years ago the Titans drafted a small school offensive lineman from Charlotte named Nate Davis. Davis hadn’t played against high end competition in school, and it clearly showed with a terrible preseason performance. Davis was so bad, he was inactive to start the 2019 season, before gradually being worked into the rotation in week 4. The first half of the season he definitely looked like a fish out of water, but by late in the season he was a standout part of our offensive line.

In 2020, Davis received multiple All Pro votes.

I mention this because many are writing off Radunz already. Lamm and Sambrailo can easily hold down the RT position to start the season. As long as Radunz continues to improve, I have no doubt he can be a valuable part of this O line in the future.

I hope so, after the Isiah Wilson pick we need to hit on his replacement

Many on here wanted Carlos Basham or Terrance Marshall at that pick....if Radunz and Fitzpatrick don't work out, it won't look good

The best OL the titans have ever fielded cake with a couple later round surprises.
Love to see it. Plus Radunz has a cool dragonball Z name. Maybe he’ll eventually be over 9000.

I think a lot of people (including myself) are going to be impatient with Radunz. Not because of who he is. We all acknowledge this team is in WIN NOW mode and we all wanted someone who can contribute like right now, instead of the future.

With the Wilson debacle, we lost a valuable 1st round pick and now we clearly don't want to have a project with a valuble 2nd round pick a year later at the same position.

Maybe he is our future, but being that we're in win now mode, we all wanted someone who can contribute right out the gate and I clearly don't see that in Radunz right now.

Exactly and furthermore, the expectation should have been a more polished player after giving Kelly the axe for pretty much no reason.

Of course I hope he turns it around, but my frustration is in equal parts with him and the FO.

And an exception (Nate Davis) is not a rule.

Kelly is done. Not upset at losing him. We have options at RT. Radunz looks outmatched right now though.

He wasn’t a world beater but he filled in everywhere we needed him. Could you really tell me that you would want to see Radunz play over Kelly, anywhere on the line?

Kelly was the probably the least expensive solution, but there were other options.

But we added other options too. It's not just radunz or kelly. That's my point. Kelly was done. He was replaced in the near term, and (hopefully) long term.

Totally agree. Kelly wasn't bad at all. He did what he was suppose to do.

We had options and RT wasn't a need, since Kelly held it down. RT was replaceable and could've easily been situated via free agency or with what we already had.

I'm not a JRob hater at all, but selecting Radunz in the 2nd round was a head scratcher.

The failed Wilson pick didn't help but Radunz in 2 was a head scratcher..his pre draft report projected him as a Guard so really doesn't make sense

I was disappointed letting Kelly go. I agree with above, he filled in anywhere and everywhere. He might not have been good, but he wasnt bad.

JRob saw that Sambrailo was a viable option based on his play for Lewan last year and also brought in Lamm to compete as well. They probably knew Radunz would take some time based on his limited play last year and coming from limited competition. That is why they focused on getting him reps at OG and OT to see if he could be a game day backup option but they still are hoping he can be a long term RT.

Thus while fans were thinking Radunz was the answer at RT JRob knew with the rust and adjustment to the level of competition he might need some time. At worst he can play OG but the hope is he can still develop into a starting RT and his big jump should happen in year 2.

I agree with this assessment. Kelly got shoved around in the play offs and we needed to get more physical. I assume they think Lamm can be and Radunz will, barring injury, have the time to learn and adjust to the NFL game.

I watched that Browns, Chiefs game in the playoffs last year not to long ago and Lamm had to come into the game in the 1st quarter due to injury. I felt he did a pretty good job.

I think Radunz suffers from two things - 1. being played at G when he's an OT. 2. None of the fans really wanted him where he was picked and most didn't want an OT with that pick.

He has a LONG way to go before I would even consider putting him in a game. I would drop the experiment with him playing guard, like yesterday. I think he's the 4th best RT on the team after Lamm, Sambraillo, and Quessenberry. He will likely be inactive on game days IMO.

I'm not a fan of him or of JRob picking him at all but I hope he turns it around. At least with Nate Davis you could tell he was coming along and eventually going to be fine (he was also hampered with injuries his rookie year). I think Radunz has a lot further to go than Davis did coming in.

At worst Radunz could be competing for LG when Saffold leaves. At best he starts at RT. He was projected to be a 2nd round pick so it wasn't a great reach and he is actually a good fit for a zone scheme. The kid only played one game last year in college and played for a small school so the adjustment was huge. I'm not going to spend much time over analyzing him until next year when he doesn't have those excuses anymore and can spend a year in an off season program.

Also, these guys that come from small school not only have far less competition to challenge them but they aren't exactly getting the same level of coaching a player from the Big Ten or SEC gets. The kid looked pretty good in the Sr. Bowl practices so the potential is there. IMO he just needs some time.
