Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

The Texans already have one of the best return guys in the NFL. I doubt they use Bush in that capacity because it just opens up more possibility of him getting hurt. I could see using Bush as a RB/Slot WR. A guy with his versatility would put a great amount of pressure on the defense.
Trying to figure out how this draft is going to shake out is a midn twister for sure. In alot of ways we are in a great postion at #3 because we will get a #1 quality player for #3 money. If we do trade out we should get a king's ransom.

Serious question - Has trading out ever worked for Floyd Reese?
He seems more keen on getting as many picks he can rather then getting quality players.

The Troupe draft was a complete crapper, with only Troupe being the good pickup.

Reese, after a trade down and then later traded up with the Seahawks and picked up Eddie George. That seemed to work out okay.

I think it's too early to tell if the Troupe draft was a "complete crapper". LaBoy has started to come on, Troupe has shown flashes as has Starks. You can't truly evaluate a draft until three or four years afterwards anyway. The average Tiatn fan still expect every pick to come in and blow up the league like Kearse did. There's a problem with that though; reality.

It's a little early to judge the 2004 draft, don't you think? And I would hardly call Troupe, Starks, Bell and Fleming "crapper". Even Odom and LaBoy have showed some flashes and apparently Robert Reynolds is coming along really well.

Now the 2003 draft might be more of a "crapper" if Woolfolk, Calico and Brown all are let go within the next few years.

Go back and find the "quality" player Reese passed on by making the deal.
IMO we might have taken Troupe or Watson anyway. We could question some of the picks after Troupe but the trade itself was brilliant IMO.

Also the picks have not been that bad. What if we drafted a DE that contributed 8.5 sacks this year and 2 fumble recoveries for TDs. Would that be a "quality" player? Those are the combined stats of LaBoy and Odom at the RE postion. Starks had a little bit of an off year from what we expected but he was a guy we wouldn't have had at all and he is one of our starting DTs. Certainly he is a better every down player than Long or Clauss. These guys still have some upside as well IMO.

I really think Texans are going to take Bush or trade down, despite public clamor for Young.

"MIAMI - Fan websites continue to churn the idea of Houston QB David Carr being traded to the Dolphins in exchange for a package of RB Ricky Williams and either a first-, second- or third-round pick. While there is some logic to the idea - the Texans could then take Houston native and Texas star QB Vince Young with the No. 1 overall pick - there's one really big problem.
Do the Dolphins want to pay $24.5 million over the next three years for Carr?
That's the basic price. The breakdown is this: There are two options in Carr's contract. The first is that the Texans can pay him a $5.5 million bonus on Feb. 19 and then pay him base salaries of $5 million this year and $5.25 million in 2007. That's $15.75 million for two years. The second is that Carr gets an $8 million bonus on Feb. 19 and base salaries of $5.25 million this year, $5.25 million in 2007 and $6 million in 2008. That's $24.5 million for three years. Neither price is appetizing for a guy who has a lot of potential but not much in results during his first four years. The Texans could also not pick up the option and simply designate Carr as the team's franchise player. But that move only decreases his value because it means that a team acquiring Carr would have him on only a one-year deal.

In short, as one NFL executive said recently: `The contract isn't tradable.''

Chris Gamble CB/WR/KR Ohio State

In hindsight, considering Woolfolk hasn't worked out Gamble might have been a decent choice but Reese wasn't looking at using a high draft pick on a CB. We desperately needed to rebuild the DL and we really needed a TE.
Troupe will be a special player IMO and all the extra picks will be gravy.

Draft Bookman eh?
If you do you need this guy  at WR...

young is a fine prospect certainly worth maybe a 3rd pick

pass the pipe, Tide...
Reggie For Titans After All?
How's that? If the Texans cooked up some deal with Miami this is what New Orleans would do:
mardi%20gras

That leaves the Titans taking Matt Leinart or trading down and hoping to get Cutler.
