Creeping Cruds started the thread & I guess a lot of the bands reflect his personal taste which is fair enough.

I copied this list from another forum and actually deleted a bunch of underground bands that I didn't think anyone here would know of...

Elvis & the Beatles are big names but ones that I wouldn't even consider to be in the category of rock.

???? you're kidding right? That's just bizarre..
Elvis' official nickname is The King of Rock n Roll and I can't honestly say I've ever heard anyone question whether The Beatles were Rock..

I think this list includes too many barely noticable bands and too few highly popular bands. No matter how popular a band has been there are going to be people who don't like them. Some won't like them just because they were so popular.

See my last post..

We see the beatles, stones, queen, aerosmith take hits but not a group like black flag. Why because nobody knows a thing about them to like or dislike them. I did my 2 minutes of research and black flag should get the death penalty now! They are a racist white supremacist skin head band that had had something like 5 different lead singers. They simply don't belong and i frankly don't think we should have to go through the rigermarole of wasting votes to remove them.

You my friend have been subject to some seriously incorrect info. Black Flag was absolutely NOT skinheads nor were they racists (hell old several members were Mexicans). Fair enough that you never heard of them but that doesn't change the FACT that Black Flag is one of the biggest names in American Punk Rock. They have their place in Rock history next to bands like The Dead Kennedys and Bad Brains etc.
Plus, this is only a game. If you hate them so much (albeit based on untruths) then vote their butts out...

One of my fovorite concert moments was at a Black Crowes show. I saw them at the Woodlands in TX. The Woodlands is a pavillion setting with a large hill that people lay blankets on and just enjoy the show. The rain can make for some fun concerts! Well this kid on the hill had a laser pointer and he kept buzzing it around on the stage pointing it at the band members (This was just before they started making rules and passing laws about pointing those things at people). Well right in the middle of a song Chris Robinson (lead singer) stops singing and got real quiet. When everyone got quiet he point up at the kid on the hill, and he said "Hey everyone its another one of those pencile d**k @$$ holes with a laser pointer, he has it so together." Then he picked up in the song right where he left off. It was hillarious. Needless to say the laser pointers where done for the night. Man I hated those things.

Modern standards would probably classify American Idol as Rock n Roll.

Elvis will always be Rock - The Beatles will always be Rock. We wouldn't even have Rock n Roll without them..

Of course the beatles and elvis were rock. What definition of rock music is there that would say different? The modern definition of rock is the same as the 1965 definition in my opinion. Only problem today is that there are few bands that can actually play..
