I don't think being called a hater is such a big deal. And after thinking about it for a minute I am sure I am guilty of using the term on this board.

IMO, Hater is just a harmless slang term. Someone who is trying insult another person could be more insulting by using another word. My point I guess is that hater is not much of an insult. I don't care if you ban it or not I guess. It just seems a little too P.C.

It seems to be a generational problem here, older posters don't understand the word and take offense to it. I would be interested in hearing from some of the younger posters we have here on this. For instance, is the term censored as improper speech in the schools? Or is it permissable to say "hater" at school. I would think if it was truly very offensive to the average person that it would be against the rules to use at school.

Oh, c'mon, Jeff! Some people are offended by everything from Mozart to mistletoe, and cannot comprehend the fact that there is no such thing as a right to be unoffended. If you're getting PMs to that effect, then you need to let them know that nobody is going to get preferential treatment just because they're a pansy.

there went another 10%....
I could care less whether or not someone is offended by a post. Anytime you have differing opinions, that will happen. What I care about is everyone feeling that they can come to this forum and post without being personally insulted. I find use of the word "hater" to be insulting if used in a certain context.

There's a difference.

Taking the easy way out of a good debate by using the term "hater" is frustrating. Could it be considered insulting? Maybe.

It's kinda like raising the white flag and then firing off another round. In many cases, it's the losers last stand.

In this context, I think it clearly is wrong.

Sorry, folks. If it is used like this, it'll be moderated in the future.

Interesting I was used as an example, but when my example came, the moderation key opened up. Things are not secret on here. All normal GoTitans posters are aware of spats and pitted battles between certain entities on this board and this is another example of differentiallity being shown. I simple ignored and enjoyed what I was reading on this post as humorous. BiPolar followed with the perfect picture to back that up and hummmm, my post was wrong. Maybe something is wrong with me, maybe I just don't get it, because my post was no more direct than B's post. Maybe I won't get in trouble for using just his first initial.... hmmmmm.
