Because at this point there are three types of guys available:

1. Jadeveon Clowney

2. Guys who are waiting for the draft to play out and potential camp injuries to find a starting spot, like Logan Ryan and Jameis Winston.

3. Backups who will never be more than depth.
This.

If Vrabel keeps the same defense in place, there's going to be a lot of rotation of the DL. If this guy excels in certain situations, they may think he can play in that role.

Not much risk here. He'll have to earn a spot.

He isn't worth me hating. He may not make the team.

It'd be like if I spent six months telling people I hated D'Andre Walker.

I thought we had a big plan when we dumped Casey salary. I wish we would have just kept him now, I do not see how it has made us better on Defense. In fact we are worse.

You assumed wrong

The "Big plan" is to go into the season with a lot of cap space, just like every year

Who had an opinion of this guy before the signing?

I'm a Penn State fan and I remember when he was there but I've forgotten about him dozens of times since.

I hate the Casey trade. Was told to hold on, there's a plan. But as days and weeks go by, and especially if Clowney ends up elsewhere, then this defense will absolutely be worse than the one that lost in the AFCC and struggled to pressure QB's all year. Not a good look. Plus we let Conklin walk weakening our OL, even though we have cap space to have kept him.

This has been a letdown of an FA thus far.
