Devastation for miles
Prayers go out to all in affected areas
I'm watching footage of Gallatin and it looks like a tornado ,acting like a buzz saw, sliced through and left close to nothing in a swath of about 100 feet - while houses right on the other side of the street lost only some shingles or windows. there were shots of 1/2 million dollar homes completely leveled to the foundations
that would be unfortunate even if Gallatin was the only affected area, but there were touchdowns of tornadoes all over Tennessee today
hope everyone's alright

This is similar to the tornados that wreaked havoc throughout the midstate today. Would not be surprised if the tornado that wrecked Gallatin is ultimately classified as an F4
Thanks for the thoughts from everyone not in Middle TN.Gunny said:good god, I hope everyone is ok.
Unfortunately it is still here....moving east....McMinnville (2 deaths), Sparta, Spencer, Cookeville, Crossville....
Another line of storms coming up from Mississippi in a few more hours.
God Bless.......
My in-laws live a mile from Vol State where it hit. Apparently, it only missed them by about a quarter mile. Lots of hail but they were lucky.

Sincerest apologies
I honestly hope everyone affected by any such storms as these were able to get out of the storms way - wherever they live - Tennesse or otherwise
10 people are confirmed killed so far in Middle TN alone
but EMS can't even get to some areas due to debris
in many areas they are having to go house to house to look for survivors

No apology necessary at all. I worded that wrong.Puck said:Sincerest apologies

I just wanted to say thanks for all the thoughts and prayers from everyone that is not here. Thanks so much.

it's amazing that this glass table wasn't shattered

some of it the size of tennis balls

I see ,..... and I read it wrong
Holy crap guys (and gals)! I'm not the praying kind, but sincerest best of luck to you all. I've been moaning to my friends all week about the weather because we got snow up here... I guess I'll just STFU about that. I hope everyone (and those they care about) are unscathed by this latest round of storms.
’twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue and the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form.
Come in, she said,
I’ll give you shelter from the storm.
And if I pass this way again, you can rest assured
I’ll always do my best for her, on that I give my word
In a world of steel-eyed death, and men who are fighting to be warm.
Come in, she said,
I’ll give you shelter from the storm.
Not a word was spoke between us, there was little risk involved
Everything up to that point had been left unresolved.
Try imagining a place where it’s always safe and warm.
Come in, she said,
I’ll give you shelter from the storm.
I was burned out from exhaustion, buried in the hail,
Poisoned in the bushes an’ blown out on the trail,
Hunted like a crocodile, ravaged in the corn.
Come in, she said,
I’ll give you shelter from the storm.
Suddenly I turned around and she was standin’ there
With silver bracelets on her wrists and flowers in her hair.
She walked up to me so gracefully and took my crown of thorns.
Come in, she said,
I’ll give you shelter from the storm.
Now there’s a wall between us, somethin’ there’s been lost
I took too much for granted, got my signals crossed.
Just to think that it all began on a long-forgotten morn.
Come in, she said,
I’ll give you shelter from the storm.
Well, the deputy walks on hard nails and the preacher rides a mount
But nothing really matters much, it’s doom alone that counts
And the one-eyed undertaker, he blows a futile horn.
Come in, she said,
I’ll give you shelter from the storm.
I’ve heard newborn babies wailin’ like a mournin’ dove
And old men with broken teeth stranded without love.
Do I understand your question, man, is it hopeless and forlorn?
Come in, she said,
I’ll give you shelter from the storm.
In a little hilltop village, they gambled for my clothes
I bargained for salvation an’ they gave me a lethal dose.
I offered up my innocence and got repaid with scorn.
Come in, she said,
I’ll give you shelter from the storm.
Well, I’m livin’ in a foreign country but I’m bound to cross the line
Beauty walks a razor’s edge, someday I’ll make it mine.
If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born.
Come in, she said,
I’ll give you shelter from the storm.

Isn't someone on this forum from Gallatin? I am certain I have seen someone with that location under their avatar.
Ye It got bad where I live in Bretwood but nothing like that. Good God.
Apologies go out from me too.
And in that one picture is that snow or just a bunch of hail

I saw the tornado touch down. There actually two that touched down and I do have pictures of both. My parents live in the Woodhaven subdivision that was devastated. These were 4,000-7,000 square foot well-built brick homes that ranged in price from $500K - $4 million. The news today said that the wind speed of the tornadoes that ripped through Woodhaven were in excess of 200 MPH!
The tornadoes touched down about 250 yards behind my parents home. They had no damage, but the damage in the front part of the subdivision is humbling and would make a grown man cry. 8 people died. My neighbor was helping a friend from his church move his antique furniture. He walked across thee field of debris and found a clock that had stopped when the tornado hit...2:26 PM CST.
I do know several people who were hit hard, but fortunately they were at work when their homes were destroyed. Our power came back on at about 7:00PM, but our cable was out all night, so I could not get on line. The video footage from the media can not begin to tell the story of I saw this morning from driving around--and I did not even get to the very worst parts.
Tornadoes are humbling raw energy. If you have one nearby, don't screw around, take cover and pray hard that it doesn't hit you directly, because it if does, theres not a thing you can do but meet your maker.
