Laurel is wildly hated by the viewers, and for good reason: the writers had no idea what to do with her. From entirely forgetting that she's already trained jn self-defense to making her a weak and pissy drunk to having her commit that most offensive of tropes, "keep it secret to keep him safe!", she has been nothing but someone the writers have had to force into the stories because of her contract. Hopefully they will fix this but I for one HATE the idea that SHE will now be Black Canary. The only ones who defend her are feminists who still think that there isn't enough feminism in the show.
Also, re: Lazarus Pits: pretty sure they'll arrive because the Flash / Arrow crossover episodes conveniently injected superhero powers and magic crap into Arrow where there was none before. I'm sure that the show will still be great but that Gotham-like purity is now shattered because a metahuman showed up in Starling City. Now all bets are off; skilled vigilantism may no longer be enough.

Admitted he thought he did it. But by the end of that episode he realized he didn't. Did anyone tell Laurel they now know he didn't do it? I don't remember that, but I may have missed it.
Yeah I remember everyone down in the Arrow cave (wait what do we call it?) and Laurel came down and saw Roy was upset over something and he told her. They only find out about Thea doing it last time so no one has told Laurel yet. They may just end up saying Malcolm did it instead of saying Thea.
More specifically, Dinah Lance is. But the show wasn't planning on strict adherence to the comic.
Personally I was hoping that Sara would remain as the only Black canary of this series; if anything, it would make more sense that Nyssa(?) took HER to the Lazarus Pits.
No, because it was still science-based, like a monster steroid. Nobody became flames, multiplied themselves or ran really fast.

Technically it is a television show based on a comic book so superheros showing up should not be all that surprising.
I will say, the 1st season is still my favorite when Oliver was just killing people left and right. Way better.
