SUMMARY: Titans QB Vince Young, the third overall selection in this year's draft, said he hopes to sign a contract in time for training camp. "I want to get it done quickly. I want to be out here sweating with the guys, in the sun, with the veterans, learning the roles of those guys," Young said. "I don't want to miss practice. I told my agent, and I told Reese, too. I want to be out there." Major Adams, the agent for Young, said, "All we're looking for is a fair deal. We want a fair contract, and once we get that taken care of he can concentrate on football and get going." The deal is expected to include approximately $25 million in guaranteed money.

This is probably the most important signing ever for Reese. It is a must for the Titans that VY be in camp on day one and ready to continue his learning process but its even more important for VY. Both sides must be fair and willing to compromise and do whats in the best interest of the team and player. This was Reese's draft pick so hopefully he will get him in camp on time. This is not a time to get hung up on a few $. Over the length of this contract theirs not a lot of difference between 22m and 25m. I hope both sides remember that its much more important for a QB to be in camp than any other position player and our QB situation makes it a must.

I thought pro sports would never hear those sane words spoken again.
You have to love Vince's attitude, he want's to play and prove himself. Not caught up in the ego-driven "show me the money" selfish culture that everyone has gotten caught up in.

Pacman wanted to get into camp on time too. Reese just tried to screw him over once he had a couple of run ins with the police. Funny how quickly Pacman got signed when his agent came out on the radio and let ever body see the numbers the titans were putting on the table compared to the 5 and 7 pick. Reese can either do this the correct way or the wrong way

That isn't the way I see the Pacman situation at all.
Pac stepped into some dogpiles, and they needed to make sure he understands who he is working for, and that he isn't in charge.

Young seems to have a healthy attitude, and understands his role.
There is a wolrd of difference in the way VY handles himself.

definately, VY is levels above pacman ever will be as a person

Hopefully...VY isn't weary of because of what happend with McNair...maybe they will protect him from that happening down the road?

and you know that how? because vince says all the right things in the media? a lot of the guys in the nfl do that, doesnt mean they're all angels.

He doesn't have to be an angel.
Being aware of the media and the machine is what makes the difference.

I am not into ragging on Pac, as I think he has come a long way in a short while (from a PR standpoint).

i wasnt ragging on either of them. i just dont like it when people start saying this player is a better player than this player based on what they say in the media. fact is, few if any of us know this guys off of the field.

I am just impressed that Adam has stayed out of prison. I'll be honest, I wanted Cutler. However, VY has shown to be nothing but a class act. I can see huge things from him. We need to make a fair deal so that he is not wondering what he could have got elsewhere, or saving himself for his next contract.

We can only call em' as we see 'em. Pac had troubles at West Virgina, and in his short time with the Titans, he's had a couple of run ins. Vince's past is crystal clear. I certainly hope Pac works out and it seems like he's putting on a good face now, but to compare the two as of now, VY is a much more solid citizen.

And when has any first round pick (or any pick for that matter) said that he doesnt want his contract signed by training camp?

Eli said he wouldn't sign with the Chargers, before they traded him to the Giants. Elway said he wouldn't sign with the Colts, so they traded him to the Broncos. Bo Jackson said he wouldn't sign with the Bucs and he didn't. A year later, the Raiders drafted him.

I am talking people who actually want to play with the team who drafted him, not the prima donnas who dont want to play for the ones who drafted them.

And when has any first round pick said they didn't want a fair contract? Fair to them that is.

probably never. It's just nothing to get all excited about him saying he wants to get in camp.

That's exactly right, Gunny. But it is inspiring to see a "good attitude" and a good ethic. Right after the draft I saw an interview with VY (NFL Network I believe). When asked about his contract situation and possibility of a holdout, he said, "it will be done by training camp, period." Followed by a leading question about his agent posturing during negotiations to get him more money, indicating he should allow his agent to do this. VY's response was short, simple, and straight to the point. He said, "He works for me. It'll be done on time."

For me, it's nice to see a player take a positive stand, and not hide behind an agent to wrangle a few extra dollars, to the detriment of the team.

VY seems good to me as a person, off the field matters are another thing.

I agree with H-Man, its nice to see a person who has the right frame of mind, and says it quite simply and positively
