Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

Dropped some balls, muffed a punt in a really bad spot, missed a kick at a really bad time, made a couple of puzzling calls, didn't keep contain on defense, Fulton got burned. And Henry looks like a really productive running back that may never run past everyone again.

But we also got after the quarterback, Philips did some great things, Tanny played a smart game. We did good things.

Saquon was fantastic and Jones played a good game. I'm bummed, but it is a long season.
I won't lie, there is some joy in seeing the Giants have some success. Barkley looked like the RB he was drafted to be. Storied teams like the Giants don't deserve to be perennial basement dwellers like the Jags. For some of those guys on that team, it was probably pretty special to feel a win again.

There would be more joy if they lost week 1 and won the rest of their games

Giants will be lucky to win 5 games this year..

And we lost to this garbage ass team in the home opener being up 13-0 because??

We literally handed this game to them, just like we did against the Bengals..

I really hope this team doesn't go 0-4, which is a real possibility.

0-4 might get Downing out of town.

Don't see that happening..

If so, we will turn to our OL coach being our OC, then retain him..

I beg to differ -- I think that's why Vrabel brought in Kelly... a fail safe for Todd Downing. Same situation with Schwartz coming in behind Bowen, which actually lit a fire under Shanes a-- (although I still believe Jim has more of a hand on the defense than what meets the eye.)

Either way you slice it, I think if we start 0-3 and the offense putters like it did yesterday, we most definitely do not need to give Downing a 4th crack at it in 2022....

After last year and this game, I wouldn't be giving him a 2nd crack at it

It's just way too early in the season to be making any changes.

There's just no way Vrabel gives up on Downing this early.

Titans D didn't show up for parts of the 3rd and 4th quarter. Had they performed like they should have, there would have been no need to put up more points. The offense performed well enough in this game to win, it was the defense that was the let down.
Yes, they could have won the game with a few more offensive plays, no doubt, but holistically, the defense could have played better in the 2nd half against a garbage GMan offense. Saying that, taking nothing away from Barkley, because he is still special. But to give up a buck 50 to Barkley was not good.

*EDIT* Not to mention the flipped field on the muffed punt. <<< That was huge. This was the single point of failure IMHO besides the defense.

So, yes, I'm going to go against the grain and popular belief on this one.

Damn good observation

Actually Tanny looked sharp for his first game action..

Just one of those weird ass games where you can't really blame anyone but a play call here and there.

Tough loss. Just felt like we should've won this game 30-3..

As Titans fans we should be immune to these type of games. Bullock hits that FG, it's a different mentality.

I just don't understand why we were so content in thinking Fat Randy was automatic to the point we refuse to gain more yardage. I guess they felt like he was clutch when there's no pressure and nobody was 100% coming at him during TC/preseason.

Disagree with this point. Even if Fat Randy had made that FG, we'd still all be here stewing over Tdd Dwning's awful play-calling.

I agree.. But I seriously don't think the hate for Downing would be as rellevant on here if we won.

We are about to experience the Todd hate in these next 3 games..

At Bills
Home to Raiders
At Colts..

We about it see.

The offense constantly failing to maintain drives wears the defense out over the course of a game and that’s exactly what happened.

I heard that angle from one of the analysts on Fox news that night.. Thinking it was Chris Sanders.. Anyhow, he said the defense was tired when they came out in the 3rd quarter after half time. However, when I look at the time of possession; Tennessee won time of possession in the 1st half (15:21). It wasn't but by a few seconds, but the offense still held the ball as long as the Giants. So, I'm struggling to see why the defense would have come out flat in the 3rd quarter due to fatigue.

Maybe if the Titans had 8 Minutes of possession, I could see that, but 50/50? Is there something else going on I'm not aware of that wore them out in the 1st half?

EDIT - I'm adding up Time by going down the Drive Summary on NFL's break down. If someone has the actual stat for time of possession for the half, that would be helpful.
