Although it is still early in the draft evaluation process one thing is starting to be very evident. There are two players in this years draft that are above and beyond everyone else at their postions and have a chance to be all-pro HOF quality. Those two players are Reggie Bush and Ferguson.

Even with the OT class that is supposed to be one of the deeper classes in many years Ferguson sticks out head over heals above any other OTs at the senior bowl. If you read the articles on the senior bowl practices you will notice that virtually every player has some negative comments to go with accolades. Ferguson absolutely has been perfect so far and I haven't read a single negative comment where he made a single bad play. This guy is going to be a quality franchise OT without question and able to play from day 1. If the draft were based on pure talent and ability only Ferguson should be one of the two top players chosen.

With that in mind I'm beginning to lean toward the Titans drafting Ferguson because he is simply without a doubt going to be the best player available at #3. Sure it is a tough decision because the QBs will be there and passing on a guy like Young would be tough. However, Ferguson is a guaranteed winner (even more so than Bush IMO). Why take any chances when you can get a guy who will be going to the pro-bowl as your LT? With Roos in the mix we could have as good of OT tandem in the NFL. Ferguson is the one guy who can help this team out the most both now and in the future and I'm beginning to think you don't pass on a guy like that.

I could see us taking Ferguson at #3. It could help us to open up the run game. We have quarterbacks right now, however if this is the last year of McNair, Young would be a good successor. We can't forget that we have Volek and Mauck, because they could have the potential to be good with playing time. Really, I think that no matter who we take at #3 it would have to be the right choice.

if we look at Brick, then we most likely trade down

we can trade to the Jets, who'd take WHOEVER @ #3
and maybe the Jets toss us a bone

Yea Puck, that would be the best option in my mind. We get the brick, and we also can get a(n) additional pick(s). Im a believer that everything starts with the lines and then falls from there. We have a young and talented D line. Our oline is where the holes are now or are going to be after free agency. Getting a franchise piece like Ferguson is a great start to getting back to the playoffs.

i'm not necessarilyon your bandwagon
but I do like Ferguson as a 'franchise' pick

but remember that Munchak can make chicken salad out of chicken $*!

(i wonder why he can't get them from false starting though)

I have to agree that "the brick" is the best player available at the senior bowl. But what might you be saying if Bush, Leinart, and Young were there also.

My only question about D'Brick is how good he'll be in the run game. He needs to bulk up a lot, and I'm sure he will by the time his 2nd year starts. But I don't know if he's a good run blocker, or "just" a dominating pass blocker.

there would certainly be more comparisons between DeAngelo and Reggie / Matt and Jay
and btw, only Matt is eligible to be there

The only knock on D'Brick so far is that he needs to work more on his technique. He has the physical tools alright; watched some of the coverage on ESPN where he dominated Kiwi. He looks good. And he's up to 297 punds now, which is not that bad.

To pick the Brick, (I kinda like the ring to that) gotta trade down.
The way I see it you can't trade with anyone but the Jets. #5 & #6 are not QB hungry and to go too much further you are getting out of Cutler range (so I've heard)...unless you want to play the praying game.

Trade with the Jets and count on them taking a QB...
Might as well get something for your position if you can.
Do I hear a 5th?

# Team W-L Opponents

1 Houston 2-14 .535
2 New Orleans 3-13 .523
3 Tennessee 4-12 .512
4 New York Jets 4-12 .527
5 Green Bay 4-12 .531
6 San Francisco 4-12 .539
7 Oakland 4-12 .539

I feel we really lucked into this slot. Can't squander it in the name of conservatism. Brick is a solid choice...Maybe some teams would give alot to draft in this spot. I don't really see any takers there in that top 7...

I don't want to see the team fall far in the draft order, either.

The most we could trade down and still get Brick is #4. No way a guy of his ability gets past GB or San Fran and it is not out of the question he even makes it out of the top 3.

Has Floyd Reese infiltrated this message board with one of his classic smokescreens?

I always thought the Titans OL philosophy was to draft a "value" offensive lineman (not in the first round) and let tha e HOF offensive line coach develop those players?

The last time the Titans drafted a LT technically was last year when they went for Roos in the 2nd round. Before that they drafted Hopkins, 13 years ago in the early first. Also, because of our draft postions (when we were winning) and because of the CAP we didn't have the luxury of loading up on OL and couldn't have drafted a guy with Brick's ability. Not too many guys with Brick's credentials late in the first or second rounds. Also, there is a big difference when looking for a OG, C or even RT than looking for a LT. If Brick was available last year at #6 he would be a Titan.

Along the offensive line the biggest revelation for me today was how bad D'Brickashaw Ferguson looked as a run blocker. I know in the past I have compared him to Jon Ogden and Orlando Pace but during the practice I found myself thinking that he was no where near them as a run blocker and may not have the attitude or demeanor to ever reach that lofty level. He is still a top prospect and an amazing pass blocker, but my enthusiasm about him was definitely tempered a bit today. - Scott Wright NFL Draft Countdown

Well, run blocking is a concern. If the Titans keep the Chow offense which is designed to get the ball out quickly, then that means your LTs don't have the pass blocking responsibility they did before. Does that impact the value Reese might put on Ferguson?
