Y’all are completely overlooking the addition of Rashad Weaver. Dude was a DPOY semifinalist last year. One of the 18 best defenders in the nation. And he was the Senior Bowl defensive player of the week. Dudes a beast and will be a big part of this DL.
I think people are being cautious given his legal troubles.

I'm more concerned about Weaver being a rookie than his legal troubles but he should still be capable of spelling Dupree and Landry. Not like Weaver did a Ray rice number on a woman. Turns out he at best he pushed her.

People can jump on this morons bandwagon if they want, but where I come from if someone is so stupid to actually advertise to the police "yo, I aint got no problem beaten a womans ass!" and then walks outside and "pushes" a woman down, when he is in the process of being drafted... well you don't support the freaking idiot.

Yall think this is the last legal issue we hear from this idiot? I am willing to bet before his rookie contract is up, he pulls at least one more hair brained idiot thing.

I’m more on the skeptical side of him just being a 4th round pick. You don’t bet the house on that.
Right now, it’s Dupree who hopefully is healthy and weaver matched with Landry. Not a deep pass rush roster.

Yes. This is why a vet signing makes sense. Houston, Vernon, or Ingram come on down!

I'm thinking since it's his only legal issue (that we know of), as stupid as it is, I'll assume it's a poor judgment call and doesn't happen again.

We don’t know if he said that or a “witness” claimed he did. The report published isn’t clear on that. If he did, he wasn’t being very smart for sure. The original report said he punched her when the actual report said “grabbed her neck and shoved her to the ground”. Neither one is a flattering picture, but one is accurate and one is not. There seems to be a certain amount of vagueness surrounding the whole thing. Time will tell us soon enough.

A good pass rush can make a mediocre secondary look good. Doesn’t ever happen the other way around.

you're kidding right?.... so if we can't cover 5 yard slants.... which we couldn't... and, it's the Titan way to play 15 yards off the receiver..... tell many how many sacks you're getting..

Not kidding at all but please, give the example of teams that had weak pass rush improved by the secondary.
Tons of examples of weak secondary looking good thanks to a pass rush. Couple Titans years come to mind.

Yep…it definitely works both ways. Maybe he has never heard of a coverage sack.

If either unit is truly weak, then rarely can a strong unit (DL or Secondary) make up for it. But a good secondary can make an average pass rush better and vise versa.

If they stay healthy... we might have really good groups at both DL and Secondary by mid season. Combined with our offense, this could be really fun this year.

I agree you have to have some decency in both to truly succeed but I disagree that a good secondary can make up for a weak pass rush with any consistency.

a coverage sack isn’t nearly consistent enough to say that the secondary has improved a bad pass rush. A weak pass rush just isn’t gonna have many coverage sacks.

I don't understand why autry is completely ignored/dismissed. He was as important as Dupree imo.

I like the autry signing but he’s an inside guy. Hopefully him and Simmons do enough damage that anyone on the outside will succeed.
I’m just generally concerned that Dupree isnt 100% and any reinjury for him leaves only Landry and weaver as the outside rushers. While I saw the draft hype and even suggestion he was a steal in the 4th, I just can’t put a whole lot of faith in a 4th round pick as the ultimate fix/long term answer. I’d love to see weaver outperform his draft spot.

Coverage sacks.... tell me you've at least heard that terminology?

The defense last season didn’t get beat constantly by 5 yard slants and CBs didn’t play 15 yards off WRs.

The Titans defense couldn’t get off the field on 3rd down and did they occasionally get beat with slants, sure. But it wasn’t the biggest problem. The biggest problem, which is widely reported is NO PASS RUSH. Not just sacks, but lack of any pressure and QBs could sit back or move around and find an open receiver.

Some of y’all making it sound like it was just quick passes that beat them. That’s plain BS.

As I have said 1000 times, off man coverage is the most widely used scheme in the NFL and NCAA. It’s not something the Titans came up with or do because our DBs are subpar. No one is off their man 15 yards and you can’t find a photo or video to back that up unless it’s the end of a game, halftime or something. They play off 5 to 7 yards. There is a reason for it. I don’t agree with it. But I understand it. Read a little and you might understand it. Just Google off man coverage.

You do understand if we have a better pass rush it helps the secondary, right? Because if you can't grasp that we might as well quit talking. And yea, when you have Joseph or Borders having to start, with a 7th round pick forced to play NB you tend to play off a some preferring to give up the short stuff to prevent the big play.

And by the way every game but one where we scored 30 points or more we won so Julio might help us do that. The offense is as important as the defense getting first downs, scoring points and making the other team one dimensional. So get off the ledge, take a sedative and calm down.

All JRob did was sign two DL with pass rush skills in FA and use a 1st and 3rd round pick on a CB and NB after using a 2nd round pick on a CB the year before and he also signed Jenkins. So this constant tear wiping over the secondary is getting sickening... literally trying to argue how the defense is going to suck. Oh, Jayon is back. Not that having one of the best cover LBs back means anything. Maybe you and Titan Jeff can have a party where you hug and cry together.
