Remember when an OC was so bad that he got his entire franchise fired? It's as if he was resuscitated and given a second chance to not suck. What could go wrong?

We went away from the screens and started targeting AJ downfield. Get the ball in your best players’ hands it’s not rocket science.

He needs to take the spin around screen pass out of the playbook and burn it. Bout time Tannehill spins around and throws to the RB it's always a defender on the RB and he catches it for a 3-5 yard loss.

One half of decent offense doesn’t make up for an entire season of no offense.

Look at points per game when Henry and Brown were both playing. We didn’t have any trouble scoring or moving the ball. I am not saying I like Downing, but injuries have played a huge roll in the effectiveness of the offense. As such hard to evaluate Downing in that performance.

Funny thing is they will use those excuses for Tannehill but not for Downing lol

Not defending Downing because I honestly don't know how he is doing.

My frustration with fan takes is that there were a few plays early where Tanny takes a big dropback and you see a receiver streak off our television screen. And you see Tanny looking downfield. Then he dumps the ball to the tight end and everyone criticizes him for not calling plays to throw down field. There really isn't more that Downing can do in that scenario.

He goes to the screen too much. Yesterday, nothing we tried laterally worked and he seemed slow to adapt to that. And the trick plays never work. But I think he does some good things, too. This board hated Art and Lafleur, too. Even though Lafleur schemed bums open all the time.

The commentators made the comment about the negative runs on 1st down and couldn't figure out why he kept trying it. Downing finally wised up in the 3rd.

Not really. We got buried on 1st down on the first drive in the 2nd half and scored a few 3rd and longs. Then we got momentum from the turnovers and they played on their heels and then things opened up. But I'm not sure the play calls were really that different.

Problem is with Downing is he does nothing to throw defenses off guard. We basically rely on our boys abilities. The likes of Sean Payton, BA and Kyle shanahan can make exotic plays with crappy offenses. Downing has experimented early on but now doesn't even chuck 1 in. Just seems all to pre season play calling to me. Give us Smith and lafleur back and we've probs only lost 1 game.

im starting to believe that the staff has no faith in tannehill and its justified. he was good vs 9 men in the box where its basically impossible to make a huge mistake throwing the ball, but i dunno about tanny anymore. either the staff sees something and they are trying to limit tanny as much as possible, or they are very stupid and they dont understand that throwing to aj brown and julio jones is a good idea to try... starting to believe its the former. past couple weeks we have run all sorts of fancy flat plays / screens that dont really work. only purpose is to call a play that tannehill can execute. we even have aj brown throwing the ball on the run like hes patrick mahomes... everything past couple weeks says to me this staff has very little faith in tannehill (behind this oline)
