Didn’t he play pretty bad tho? I’m thinking the season after his ACL.

Not bad. About average or sightly better
Certainly nowhere near what he showed as a rookie or 2019.

I said at the time it was a mistake not to pick up his option and I said last year it was a mistake to let him walk. Quality tackles under the age of 26 don't hit the market very often.

Right. But JRob has to make that call before his final season. Regardless, with contracts for Henry, Tanny and others needing to get done, it may not have been possible to make a long term deal happen.

Signing Kelly and drafting your future RT seemed to be the smart move.

Now, with Lewan coming off his injury and Wilson uncertain, I think JRob will need to make sure there’s quality depth at OT entering next season.

Which is why cutting Wilson, as much as a few want that to happen, it won't happen right now. Cap hit aside, I think he gets at least until TC

Conklin was not the same after his ACL

I think the OL and depth guys will stay about the same. Sambraillo and Q filled in ok for Lewan. Wilson will make it to TC unless their is some way we can cut him without the major cap hit. I liked what I saw from Brewer. Would love to see someone beat out Douglas for the center backup spot. Time to start grooming Jones's replacement.

Hindsight is obviously awesome, and had he known the Beasley/Clowney moves would work out how they did, he would have signed one or neither of them, and probably looked to sign other rushers instead.

He made the move to let Conk go to focus on pass rush. Everyone agreed with it at the time. It was the best move for the balance of the side given the contracts needing to be made with Henry, Tannehill and free agency.

No, everyone did not agree with it. There were several vocal fans who thought his option should have been picked up. There were other ways to get to the cap number. Also, we could have chosen a defensive guy or traded out of our wasted 1st.

Think that Dickerson (or Dickenson) kid from Alabama makes it to the 2nd or 3rd round? Don't necessarily follow the league trend on who needs a C but after the first year of Jones, I would have been all in on a replacement. The last year and half, he's probably been the most consistent OL we've had.

  • Landon Dickerson, C, AlabamaHeight: 6-6. Weight: 308.
    1. Projected 40 Time: 5.22.
      Projected Round (2021): 2-3.
      View Ranking History
1/9/21: Dickerson played well for Alabama in 2020 before suffering a season-ending knee injury against Florida in the SEC Championship. Prior to the injury, he was getting second- and third-round grades, according to some team sources. Dickerson has some skill set limitations, but he has very good technique and is fundamentally sound. He is a smart center who knows how to play the game. Dickerson accepted an invitation to play at the Senior Bowl.

8/29/20: Dickerson is a transfer from Florida State who had a strong 2019 season for Alabama. Over his first season with the Crimson Tide, Dickerson was a solid run blocker and dependable in the passing game. He has good size to him with more length than most centers. Dickerson could be a riser as a senior.

If we need to save some money, Jones isn't my first choice but this kid looks like he'll be a really good C. Titans haven't really had a replacement for Mawae although Jones has played pretty good.

I think we are in a position to keep the offense core together and concentrate on the D
Is Ben Jones a core player? Personally I think if he doesn't restructure he's replaceable

If Dickerson is there in Rd3, take him

He has yet to finish a season not injured....both years at FSU were cut short by injury just like this one was....I would think that would make him drop in the draft

I know he just got the college "best center" award but that is absolutely a concern if the move would be to get rid of Jones to save money and ride with him as the C.
