I don't get what's with people wanting to trade one of our best players and a key veteran on the Offense. Is it because an inconsitent TE had a breakout game and a 6th round rookie, with a history of injuries, has preformed beyond expectations? Kinney's worth more than a 2nd rounder to us. Teams don't see that and will want him for less and we won't bite.

Troupe has looked good on more than one occasion this year and last. What's most inconsistent is how he's been used. I've paid a lot of attention to his blocking, and he doesn't deserve the rap that some give him about being a horrible blocker. I like Kinney, but he's not elite, and he's not a 1st round talent. He's good, but his production this year owes a lot to the system.

Because they are under the delusion that an unknown college player is automatically better than a proven veteran. Most of these same people would trade Brown for a 2nd rounder in a second as well. In their minds all these college kids are automatically better players despite the fact even 2nd round and even 1st round players are no sure thing (we have a few that are worthy of unemployement right now).

Well you're certainly not talking for me or my "delusions". Just because there's good reason to entertain the option of trading Kinney does not mean that I'll guarantee the college player brought in will be better. It's not even a direct comparison for who's "better".

Troupe is the guy I'd be comparing to Kinney if we lost him, we wouldn't be drafting a TE to replace Kinney. Troupe does have the potential to be better than Kinney, and I admit, it's just potential. But it will be his 3rd year here, and I can see the reason for throwing him into the #1 spot and finding out just how good he can be.

We'd use the pick to draft a player in an area where we're not strong. We have plenty of those areas to chose from.

I probably missed it, but I can't even remember the last TE deal, as in trade, that was done.

Much as I want to see the younger guys develop, unless there was such an offer out there for Kinney, cutting Kinney would be foolish. Guenther is the one I'd want to see play, but right now if it came down to cutting someone, it'd have to be GG - and he's a freak with potential. Having a vet is invaluable, as the WR situation has shown this year.

why is Chris Brown worthy of unemployment?

what has CB done that any average NFL HB could not do?

of course this goes back to the OL vs HB thingy, BUT when EG was limping thru his last season or so, with basically the same OL as CB has had the last two seasons, it was all EG's fault for his pedestrian production. If CB was special in any way he would have way better numbers, or at least be a viable play action threat on 3rd and short - heck even late EG was still that. No CB does not bring anything to the team that many other, cheaper HB would not bring.

yes he did - plenty of them

of course Long is relative - lol

EG had a big ole handful of 15-25 yard runs called back

CB's callbacks tend to be longer/more critical I'll admit

Didn't Doug Jolley just get traded for a pick this last off-season? What round was it?

Jolley trade

They dealt tight end Doug Jolley plus three draft picks (one second-rounder and two sixth-rounders) to the Jets for the 26th overall pick and the 230th overall (sixth-round) pick.

OT: I'm beginning to think we should have kept McCairens and traded Bennett. I can't decide.

Kinney? Tough question. What percentage of time has he been IR'd or PUP'd?
Does he make the big plays? How often?

I know that this season has leaned heavily on tight ends, but I don't see it remaining that way next season. At least, I hope not.

Kinney is solid, good blocker which is something we definately need.

We have no need to get rid of him just so we can play a 4th TE who wasnt even drafted.

Nope. Kinney is still our best TE. He's not that expensive from a Cap perspective. Troupe is the red zone threat but they seem to trust Kinney a whole lot more on all other areas of the field. You keep players that are solid like Kinney when they don't break the bank.

Kinney...Troupe and maybe Bo have more upside. Anyone changing their opinions?? Not saying Kinney isn't a good player but his value is higher now than it will ever be. We have tons of other holes to fill. Kinney for a player who can help at safety or an O-Line position would be good

Actually I think were in pretty good shape at the TE position, unless someone wants to trade the farm for Kinney. My only issue is his health, he hasnt started and finished a season yet, starting every game.

I really like Gunther.

There are two really good tight ends in the draft in Mercedes Lewis and Vernon Davis, both very fast and athletic. Still, there could be a couple of teams with late first round picks that will need a tight end, and Kinney could work in a trade. Either way, i think a bunch of teams would trader a second rounder for Kinney, like Jacksonville or St. Louis or the Bengals.

I started thinking though, could we run something like what the Redskins do. I dont really know much about it, but i think they have Cooley as an H Back and Sllers as the Fullback. But, if Fleming hasnt really proved anything to Fisher, could we move Kinney, who certainly is big enough and strong enough, to fullback. Then, we could throw to him alot, and get him at least 50-60 catches, with troupe getting his fair share too at tight end. Then, Scaife and Guenther could rotate in. Scaife could play either position, fullback or tight end, but guenther would just be a tight end. It would just add another threat out of the backfield, since fleming didnt catch too well this year. And i thinmk that Chow would like it too. Just a thought...

They had a terrible choice to make and as it was explained by Soxcat we had to dump JMAC because of the money and a compensatory pick issue. I was a huge fan of JMAC and I really hated to see him go. I'm not sure there was a right choice. I think there is only what was done.

All this dump Kinney talk is nonsense.

You are correct that Kinney being traded is nonsense just cause the Titans will not do it.

But it is not nonsense from the standpoint that Tennessee is 4 deep at that position and could probably move Kinney without any huge downside risks.
