Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

Be funny if it's the year they manage to win it all... Canton will list the Super Bowl winners as "Washington Football Team".

Reminds me of the Tecmo Super Bowl players they didn't have - QB Eagles and such.
Memories man, memories.
Who knew it was so important to have Wade Wilson instead of QB Vikings.

That new "logo" looks very fitting for the generic name they now have. I have my suspicion merchandise sales will be down a little bit until they have a real team name.
Snyder gonna need that extra money too for all the lawsuits he's about to be fighting.
Actually I think sales will go up...its an important issue going on right now and people will want to be a part of it...the name isn't permanent so they will want apparel that's unique until the real name gets picked.

Its just pathetic and baffling to me to have this interim period. Just pick a damn name and move on.

I can understand it a little bit, it's a process and needs to be done right, especially with the current situation going on. In saying that it should have been changed a long time ago.
It's also a smart marketing move, release jerseys, shirts etc with generic name, they hope to sell lots then release new gear and soak the fans again..similar to the 3rd jersey in hockey

It took the Seattle NHL team what 19 months to name the team?...Seattle Kraken, not my favourite choice btw

In general, I think you overestimate how many fans think the interim team name/logo is apparel they want. For comparison, nobody wanted Tennessee Oilers gear and it has little to no value now.
Second, I think you also give too much credit to the fans on how "important" they think this is. I can't poll the Skins fans or anything, but I'd bet that majority are either angry their team name had to change or don't care either way. I'm sure their are a few that are glad it changed and recognize some sort of importance being accomplished.

I see this differently then. I see them pump out a bunch of merchandise for a team that fans know the logo and name is going to change, so they don't buy the gear leaving the team stuck with overstock of garbage no one wants/

Separate point, Kraken is a stupid name. Even more so to have taken 19 months to decide on a stupid name. From a basic standpoint, A Kraken, is one thing, that is their "team" name.

Are we expecting an S on the end then?

NHL is just bad at naming hockey teams anyway. Wild, Canadiens (as not the only Canadian team), Canucks, the Ducks (stolen from a kids movie), etc.

There are a lot of variables that go into them choosing a new name and logo. I'm betting that the minority owners wont approve anything bc it may help them be able to sell if the new ownership can pick everything.

I don’t think there will be new majority ownership and the minority owners can’t stop the process. The trademark issue alone can take 6 months to resolve so they pretty much had to create a temporary name.

I'm a refugee Redskin fan who is just checking things out around here. I have been a loyal Redskin fan my whole life (just short of 50 years) and have never really had much interest in other teams until fairly recently. Living in both Western NC and VA I had a chance to catch at least one game a year live and to watch the games I couldn't attend on TV.

The game day experience at FedEx is miserable. You either have to take the Metro and walk a mile and a half from the stop or pay $50 to park. Traffic management getting in or out is better at a high school football game. Management simply does not care. The stadium itself is too big and they've been steadily removing seats for years. Half the stadium is filled with opposing fans every week because the local fans have just had it. Can you blame them? It just feels like the team is trying to stick it to you at every opportunity.

The only trump card Snyder and company had was to play on emotions of the connection to past teams that played the game the right way and had great success. Problem is those days are disappearing into the rear view mirror....quickly. My kids only remember the Snyder era so they don't know first hand how good the organization once was. I do, and this ain't it.

The last thing I want to be know as is a weasel fan or someone who ducks out when things get rocky. That's not me. I love the other fans of the team and the bonds I've made because of it over the years but I HATE what the team has become. I could (and have) live with bad performance but that organization does everything the wrong way.The name change and the sexual harassment stuff is just the latest in a long line. I don't see it ever changing in DC while Dan still owns the team.

So my choices are: start buying all the new gear that Danny boy wants to sell for his newly named team, stop watching football all together or find another team to pull for. That's why I'm here. I need an AFC team reasonably close to home, so going to see a game now and then isn't out of the question, and and that has ownership and a front office that isn't a running joke. The Titans seem to fit the bill nicely.

I doubt I'll post too much but I've been taking the time to read a bit over the last few days and this seems like you've got a nice place here with reasonable folks. I'll do my best not to screw it up.

If you have Skins questions, fire away. I've been an admin on a Redskins board up until recently and know more about the team that I'd admit in polite company.

Welcome. Titans have been very up and down over the last 20years but the ups are always great and if you like oldschool ball you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the welcome.

Up and down I can live with. Low and lower is getting old. I'm an ex-Oline guy so oldschool is fine with me. :)

To be fair the way evolution works there is always a first. They should be called krakens it just makes more sense. But there is a first genetically new member of a species who then passes on their genes and leads to the new subspecies.
